I love this video, not only bc it's organization, but bc keeping a healthy pantry is vital to keeping a healthy diet! Your pantry really highlights for me what I'm doing right and what I still need to work on as far as getting to a CLEAN way of eating. Thank you!!! This is the first video I've seen from your channel, do you ever do food hauls or videos where you show what you've shopped and where you've sourced everything to stock your pantry???
@Downshiftology7 жыл бұрын
Hi Yvette - so happy you like the video! I haven't done any hauls yet, but I'm happy to do them in the future. Thanks for letting me know what you're interested in seeing! :) x

I follow some healthy mamas on insta and I'm always inspired by beautiful chia bowls and smoothies and love hearing about gelatin, magnesium, and other nutrient dense foods that you can add to your diet and daily routine. But, I don't always purchase these items or know how to use them. Another question about nut butters, nut milks and soaking nuts, do you soak only when you are about to make a recipe or do you keep soaked cashews, almonds on hand so that if you want to make something, you already have some nuts soaking?
@Downshiftology7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info Yvette! I only soak nuts for a specific recipe. The nuts stay dry in my pantry until then. :)

I replaced my pantry items with glass containers and purchased a white Sharpie paint pen (oil based) from Joann Fabrics. They were all of medium so I had to get a larger size. My jars look absolutely beautiful and so neat and clean. I love it!! Can't wait to get more jars. I got my jars from Fleet Farm super cheap, not sure if every state has one. Thanks again, this is the best labeling method I have seen so far.

Nail polish remover takes the dried paint off the glass easily. I have the same for our pantry. I have written cooking instructions on the back as well. Hidden from sight but there when you take it out to use. Weight Watchers people can put SPs on back too. Or dates of expiration.

The pen actually comes off with water (if you're using water-based). But that's a great tip if you're using oil-based. And love the idea of putting the instructions or expiration dates on the back! Thanks Kimberly!

@Downshiftology6 жыл бұрын
My pantry is quite dark so the labels do help to see what's in the back of the pantry without reaching in and taking each jar out to see what's inside. Especially when low jars are stacked in front of tall jars. But if you prefer not to label, that's obviously a personal preference. :)

I just found this video. I have used glass round jars like you have changed to for the past 35 years. I just changed to Prepworks containers which are plastic BPA free last year. After you use those glass ones for a while, you will find out the problems with using them. They aren't as airtight as you think they are....been there and done that....I really only bought them originally because I liked the look of items stored in them when they were out on a shelf in my kitchen..beans look really neat in them for instance. Those rubber seals crack slowly but surely and start out with tiny starting weak points that you can't see with the naked eye. Also, those round glass jars take up a lot of space. Since changing to the Prepworks, my items stay fresher longer and they are more airtight and are stackable and take up much less space. Also, you should never store onions and potatoes together....because they cause each other to spoil much faster. I wasn't impressed with this video of yours. Was impressed with one I watched prior to this one. Thank you!

Well, 3 years late but I would love to see apartment tour and how you clean. What products you use. I just went on the beginning of the decluttering and reorganization journey. WOW! It was very hard but it does pay off. My kitchen is 90% done. I can tell already I do not waste as much and I actrually cook more and eat more home cooked food because I CAN SEE IT! It is also not difficult to cook because I have space now. Amazing right? I bought glass containers too. Some unfortunately the BP free plastic simply because glass is not easy to find and some cost way too much. I reuse a lot of glass now from products I buy.

Love this video. I have been trying to organize with glass but it overwhelming to do all at once, and not budget friendly for me right now. But I love the idea. Thanks. Love all your organization..

What a great idea, now you have me thinking. I am also using the same plastic containers and notice they are not air tight. Making. Switch soon. Thank you for sharing

This was a fantastic video! ... I LOVE our WECK jars - we use them for dry goods, jellies/jams/fruit ... & the juice jars are perfect in the fridge ... and they also come w/ wooden lids, in all sizes - (sold separately) ... in addition, they’re wonderful for canning & baking (believe it or not) ... they’re purposes are endless (we purchased ours @ Williams Sonoma ... & Ebay also offers a variety as well) Since watching this segment, I’m sold on the glass canister set [drooling] - their lids match the our wooden WECK lids! (delicious) Thank you again - I enjoyed this very much, and am also subscribed w/ the bell turned ON!

Using jars for dried goods is a MUST! I’m finding that pantry bugs are ruthless little buggers and the best way to prevent them is to use air tight containers

I like the minimal style. I switched to glass too a while ago. Just better storage
