"Graviteam Tactics: Mius-Front - tactical battalion level combat simulation. It is a sequel to Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star and Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.
Game is comprised of two modes:
Operational - turn-based mode where you can shift and concentrate forces in the chosen directions, resupply and replace units, repair and refuel vehicles.
Tactical - real-time mode where you are conducting fire combat with the enemy, capturing territory, destroying vehicles and the enemy manpower.
Four large-scale operations for the Red Army and Wehrmacht with realistic organizational structure. The campaign features more than 100 detailed vehicles produced in USSR, Germany, US and UK. Over 140 sq. km of realistic landscapes were reconstructed from topographical maps and photo and video materials.
-New enhanced UI: streamlined interface of various panels, radial orders menu and other enhancements.
-Interface appearance and customization: three variants of appearance are included, customizable unit markers (Red Army, Wehrmacht, NATO).
-High replayability and advanced AI, which selects the best strategy based on behavior, not a predetermined script.
-Advanced management of forces in the operational phase: reinforcement strategies and management of reserves.
-Statistics keeping: performance of each unit is recorded (kills, losses, awards, etc.). After each battle, damages and condition of forces and vehicles are shown in the after battle statistics.
-Battlefield simulation: realistic vision devices, smoke screens and flares, creation of trenches, explosion craters. Remnants of previous battles remain on the battlefield until the end of operation.
-Realistic soldier behavior: each soldier has several essential parameters, such as experience level, stamina and morale, which influence their behavior and effectiveness.
-Detailed weapon modeling and realistic ballistics: bullets and projectiles follow ballistic trajectories, taking wind, temperature and other parameters into account.
-Advanced armor penetration: modeling based on ballistic histograms without simplifications of probabilistic methods, generation of secondary fragmentation fields takes into account many parameters, such as the change of the field shape in space, fragments and armor characteristics, armor thickness and damage conditions.
-Complex vehicle damage system: engine, suspension, sights, weapons and targeting mechanisms can be damaged separately, affecting the combat capabilities.
-Destructible environment: almost everything can be blown up and destroyed, from landscape surface and buildings to vehicles and enemy defensive installations.
-Advanced control of the off-map artillery, featuring various fuse settings and shell types.
-Formation and movement modes: lines and columns, movement by road and covertly, infantry following behind tanks, setting a delay, fire sectors, etc.
-Automatic smoke screen laying: units set up smoke screens when enemy is spotted.
-Dynamic change of the time of day, light sources and weather effects, influence the course of battle, visibility and area passability."

I love the way you explain the strategetic plan at the start of the turn and your tactics during the battle. Really well done. You inspired me to play Tank Warfate Tunisia 1943 again!

Thanks for this next episode! I am playing this one through too. In my first battle, even though I thought i had kept my tank and infantry units equally dispersed on the map, it ended up with me only having infantry and no tanks. I did have some a/t guns and had to mount them up and move them to oppose some of their armoured cars. Look like you had the opposite time here with tanks and few infantry. A fascinating game as you never can be sure what you will have or come up against.

I like your slow approach in these battles i see it will save you a lot of casualties I wish i had that kind of patients in my battles

I´m very curious to see how this will continue. Have I pushed past the enemy front line units? Will I be able to push into their rear and find myself some supply and repair units to mess up? I might be able to be even more aggressive with my tanks :)

Personally I think the tactics of pushing the tanks out into the open were unnecessarily risky and the fact that the enemy only had the short-barreled 76.2mm Reg guns is a lucky outcome for the Germans. Had the Soviets assigned 45mm or long-barreled field guns, the Germans would have been in a lot more trouble. Having only a single 2-tube mortar observer across the attacking BGs is a really questionable choice when attacking towards a village, through swamp and forest. The AI doesn't know how to sit still and defend entrenched positions, so that's why they were caught in the open trying to move infantry through swampy ground to reinforce lost positions in the forest. Of course, the AI also doesn't know how to distribute its AT and heavy weapons properly either. There is no way this route to the village should have been so easy to take. That's not to say Tonci87 didn't play it well - the outcome was OK given the casualties he inflicted on the Soviets. But to have 20+ tanks vs zero tanks and zero AT guns, even 59 casualties is too many. If I were the regimental colonel and found out the enemy force was just infantry with 2 short-barreled howitzers and some MG platoons, I would have put the battalion commander under a lot of pressure to explain the losses.

@@spellcaster39ify Thanks for the analysis, you are correct with most of it. I too was surprised that the Soviets did not have any more AT guns in this battle. I´m confident that my masses tank assault would have been able to suppress and defeat any guns that showed themselves. I´m not sure that the AI is too much to blame here. From their point of view it must have looked as if my assault is stuck on the edge of the swamp and in the forest. So bringing in reinforcements might have looked like a smart thing to do in this situation. But then I rolled up my tank reserves and caught them in the open. Maybe I could have done it with fewer casualties, however my objective was to reach both villages and I barely managed to achieve that in time. I think I did underestimate the effectiveness of those heavy machineguns. My guess is that they caused a lot of the infantry losses.

Hi Tonci I had enemy throwing Molotov cocktails at my tanks around Stepenovka and lost a Tiger tank to one of them.

Yeah, that can happen. If that nasty fluid sets the engine on fire, then your tank can burn up very fast.

Same with Mortar shells can take out Tigers if they hit the engine deck which happened also.

you definitely need more combined arms approaches.. tanks without infantry are wrecks.

Had a quick question about the different orders. I see you favor the attack order over the assault one. Are you getting better results using the attack order? It really tricky trying to figure out the difference between the 2 orders. Thanks for the awesome videos by the way. I just wrapped up this campaign myself as the Germans it’s a very long battle but so much fun!

All of the orders on the wheel (with the exception of defence) are essentially the same “move” order, think about each of them as a shortcut that stores a combination of what really matters and that is order modifiers. So you are not comparing “assault” vs “attack”, but rather modifiers under “assault” vs modifiers under “attack”, and since each modifier is well-defined, the job of comparison becomes more or less objective.

Awesome thanks for the clarification. Wasn’t sure if it changed the logic of how they attacked but what you said makes a lot of sense about using is to save your modifiers.

It’s not clear from the documentation, but the developers did confirm when asked. And then there is one “special” order - Defense. Unlike others, it specifies what to do at the end of the move, which you cannot do with any modifiers.

@@arkadiy9321 I'm a bit confused about this. I read somewhere that units sent to Attack will go beyond the designated point of arrival. Covert Move, for example, does not elicit this behavior.

This may a duplicate response, but I don’t see anything posted, so there I go again. The differences you heard of are probably accurate (didn’t specifically test for it), but they are due to the differences in modifiers. Same modifiers would result in identical behavior- developers confirmed at some point

Thanks for the reply just got into these. I have a question. Did the germans do a lot of armor assaults without infantry support such as this battle you showed us? obviously it went well so I assume it works well to some extent (other than heavy urban areas)

I wouldn't presume to answer that question with too much certainty, but I guess that it did happen regularly, depending on terrain and forces arrayed against each other.
