The great and powerful Brock Van Dijk of Panzerfaust returns to the podcast this week to discuss the war on free speech, the sorry state of Western democracy and other similarly uplifting topics, along with giving an update on the next installment in the stellar “Suns of Perdition” quadrilogy. I also review the new Immolation record, “Acts Of God”, trawl through the latest metal news and react to new singles by Kampfar, Nite, Amon Amarth and more.

Great new album by Immolation! Over the years they progressed by fine tuning their sound as opposed to adapting to the more popular clean and clinical ways of modern death metal. They still sound as intricately evil and wondefully organic as on their late nineties output. This one takes me back to Failures for Gods quite a bit.

It's fast becoming my favourite Immolation album of all time. Just absolutely incredible.

That Sadist intro, was just waiting for Anni-Frid and Agnetha to break into song. Very Abbaesque to my ears!

I've no idea about panzerfaust but I enjoyed that conversation a lot. It was interesting to hear all that stuff about Canada and thinking "crap... they are describing some of the shit that happened in Argentina (where I live)" specially how divided the society is, it's all the same hell almost everywhere. I liked that first song you played..I hated that keyboard, sounds painful!! the Ibaraki song sounds very similar to a behemoth song intoxicated by the trivium sound. The hype about that "metal" song by Foo Fighters makes me want to vomit, I like FF but I hate this new thing from reaction channels that ruin my enthusiasm/passion for certain songs and even artists. The Amon Amarth song...it's Amon AMarth..they are like ac/dc, they keep a formula, they repeat riffs ...basically, but they still make good music. Great episode !

Dude that’s what I’ve been saying about the Twitter mob this whole time ! They are exactly like the conservatives of the 80s but with colored hair 😂

Haha! Yup. People also forget that Tipper Gore, one of the founders of the PMRC, is wife to Mr Liberal himself, Al Gore. That gaggle of nitwits was a cancel mob in their own right. They just didn't have the benefit of the internet and social media. Imagine if they did.

What do you disagree with them about, ideologically? Apart from their behavior.

Vallenfyre was a project to honour the memory of Greg father, only to be three albums....maybe they can play live again but no new albums. Amon Amorth is like Arch Enemy to me , boring music though that song you play is not too bad.Maybe live they can show something. Foo Fighters is just poor generic pop music.

I do actually remember the story behind Vallenfyre now. Either way - great band and glad that Greg is continuing along those lines in Strigoi.
