@@MetroCDMXyMas My bad, because it's Canadian. There is the Maple Leaf both present in Canada's flag and some other army vehicles. After a quick research, the "23A" marking has the same lettering as other Canadians tanks i saw. Apparently, 23A stands for B company, third troop, first tank.

I wonder why singing this song was not banned like other Nazi music after the War. Is it because it was not composed by out and out Nazi tank Officers?

It still is being banned, but I do not think it sings about anything against the poeple but more so the experience of their life as a tanker

I thought it was not banned because it featured in the Battle of the Bulge film and was told that it was not a Nazi composition. Now I read that it may be banned after all. Do the Bundeswehr really sing it still ? These things have been clouded by availability on the net.

@@rhodiusscrolls3080 The Panzerlied is somewhat controversial because of the melody. It shares the same melody with the antisemitic SS-song "Die eiserne Schar". Yes, it was sung by the Bundeswehr, but only until 2017. They dont sing it anymore.

@@deroffizier8972 Isnt it interesting when you are better informed..the whole problem with the Battle of the Bulge film is that the main characters are presented as not what they were in reality. It comes as no surprise that the Panzerlied covers up a tune also sung by the SS. You may well already know that much of the American secret service in Kennedys time and earlier was staffed by men who had been in the same Nazi organisation. Their leader was Reinhard Gehlen. The SS were even the first Europeans to eat brown wholemeal bread as part of their diet . Do you know what became of Schulze Kossens who was Hitlers personal SS adjutant? Look for the typewriters manufactured in the War they have a key with the SS runes.
