Tutorial: Rusty Boxcar Roofs

Once again no vids up cause I've been busy with summer things.
Was a bit sick too :)
In this tutorial I demonstrate how I do rusty boxcar roofs using only two pigments and two washes. You can modify this however you like using different colours and such :) If you find any good mixes for this technique please post them in the comments section.
You can use this method for anything that's rusty, really :P

Wow, I'm really impressed with that technique bud! The results are fantastic!! I've seen it done with Humbrol oils too, but your technigue is brings another aspect on how to heavily rust certain areas, not just box cars but you can virtually apply that to all sorts of subjects like exhausts for example. Really well done! Cheers mate!

Thank you Brad :) yeah that's what I was going for; I can never get good rust just using paint, but pigments are physically like rust so they can achieve really realistic results :D This is how I do it on exhausts too lol

That worked really well Evan. Nice going mate. I need to get a darker rust pigment to try this really old and aged rust effect. Very neat bud

Thanks Mark :) Yeah lots of rust I see is too red and bright for my liking, darker oranges mixed with browns is what I like. Track Brown is what I recommend. And was I asking you about AM T-55 tracks some time ago? I remember you gave me a suggestion but I can't find the PM :C

I have these pigments made for weathering by a company called Bragdon. They supposedly don't need any kind of pigment fixer. They are mostly for rail road type stuff. Not really much variation for tanks. I have a whole bunch of rust colors though and one called dust bowl brown and soot.
