It becomes more real and legitimate if the main actors can truly relate to their roles. It's very liberating in a way that Paolo is openly gay and doesn't have any qualms in broadcasting it here unlike other BL series, some of the actors are RUMORED to be closeted if not CLOSETED in real life. It just defeat the purpose of advocating for this cause if they themselves can't even reveal their true gender identity.

Just to correct, Miss Kate. BL craze started years ago. Hindi ko alam when others started their BL journey. Pero sa akin hindi ko na alam paano nagsimula. From Takumi Kun of Japan and Love of Siam of Thailand and Eternal Summer of Taiwan until mga sumikat na mga Thai series at hindi na tumigil. And so far Gaya sa Pelikula is doing a great job. Sana yung iba pang BL series ng PH eh maganda din. Ang problema lang kapag dumami maxado mapupuyat na ako kc andami ding nakaline up pa na thai series like My Oxygen.

I think that "Boy's Love" is referring to boys being or feeling love to the same boys (w/ "Boys" here referring to male people, sexuality and not gender.).. Unless you really have a different way of defining it. I mean this is where male-male love story bottom line is.

And yet people who are considered as boy, referencing the "Boy's love" are having a sexual attraction/interest to the same sex, which technically explains that this type of genre can be considered under the category of homosexual movie. The reason why they define this type of genre as gay movie/series, it is because for the fans to fully understand the struggles that the character/s will face on which heavily link to their identity which the plot is heavily depended on. Note that most of the struggle/s in this type of genre is related to their sexuality. Ergo, we cannot remove the gay-labeling for this type of genre as it falls to the definition of gay. In addition, gay is not necessarily effiminate as there are other types of gay base from their expression. Like for example a masculine type of gay, in which most of the characters in a BL all are. Plus, as what Juan Miguel mentioned, "I don't like men, except for him". Is like an obvious denial of a person's sexuality that in some point discourage the LGBTQIA+ Community. Note, that both the characters sexes are the same so implying to the audiences that they deny that they are gay is really confusing and discouraging. Again, we use this type of things to understand a person as their ways/lifestyle/struggle or even perspective can be influenced by their sexuality.

Hindi ko gets meron pang "discourse" about origins ng genre and the correct way of whatevs. I think this specific series is just a love story, a romcom wherein the MC's just happen to be non-straight... Regardless pa what other typical shows of said genre portray, which are often problematic. This show is in no way a derivative of those.
