It's wild how relatively under-the-radar Paolo has gone for a very good ROTY. Idk if it's just because he's on the Magic or what, but dude is a surefire future allstar as a rookie and he doesn't get much hype for it

Yes it's because he's on Orlando. Tourist town, small market, in Heat's shadow in Florida, etc... AND because of Wemby. So both unfortunately. Paolo seems like a hard worker, joining Team USA was definitely a great move to learn and improve.

People have become accustomed to Orlando getting great talent or possible prospects, them not developing well, playing worse than expected or even just badly before getting traded where they will either play significantly better or fall out the league. Think Aaron Gordon, we'll see about Bol Bol and that remember that Mario Hezonja guy? (Dunked on Giannis, blocked Lebron's gamewinner, fell out the league.)

This upcoming season I’m thinking Paolo will have 24pts/8rbs/5ast on roughly 45-35-80 shooting splits, in a few years he can be easily be at 30pt scorer and an annual MVP candidate. After a decade of disappointment us Magic fans finally have hope with Paolo and Franz.

That terrible February when he had the neck injury REALLY deflated his 3pt% Im not saying he was a sharpshooter before but he still was at w/e % he ended at....34, 35% after that pitiful 1-35 February. He was basically our PG as a 20 year old rookie for the first 20 or so games too because we had zero guards...By the time Paolo is 24/25 he'll be in the discussion for one of the best in the league.

Keep in mind, Blake Griffin is actually shorter than his rookie year’s listed height at 6’9 with a much shorter wingspan than Paolo. He’s a little less athletic than Blake but they have no pretty similar games. Paolo has a higher ceiling and has the ability to be the best player on a championship team and a perennial MVP candidate. His playmaking and 3pt development will make or break his career going forward. The difference will be Blake Griffin or Karl Malone/Charles Barkley type.

They started 5-20 last year but were actually a few games over .500 after that. As crazy as it sounds, they really need Markelle Fultz out there to be successful. He helps organize them on offense and provides nice defense at the point of attack. Suggs is improving, but a Suggs-Anthony backcourt just isn't good enough on most nights. If Fultz plays 65+ games, or Anthony Black is ready to contribute right away I could easily see them being a .500 team and falling in the 8-10 range seeding-wise.

@rome8180
@rome8180 9 ай бұрын
After watching him play center for Team USA, it's pretty clear he could easily do it in the NBA. He offers plenty of rim protection and rebounding. And it creates a ton of space on offense which is very hard for the other team to guard. It's really too bad he's on a roster like the Magic's. It's going to be hard for him to get a ton of minutes at center. Mosley and the front office both seem to love ultra-big lineups. You've got Wendell Carter there, who is a good player deserving of minutes. But you've also always got a couple of backup bigs. They finally moved on from Mo Bamba and what did they do? Promptly added Bitadze. Mo Wagner is also still there. I'm just not sure how realistic it is that we see more than token Paolo-at-center minutes any time soon. I'm sure he'll put up numbers at the 4. But I think the key to really unlocking him and making him the engine of an unstoppable offense is playing him at center a bunch. I'm not saying he needs to start there. But I want him playing at least half his minutes there.

@AaronTats
@AaronTats 9 ай бұрын
@@HoopVenueOrlando couldn’t really afford running those type of lineups because of their lack of depth/flexibility last season. They didn’t have the right personnel to let Paolo play more off-ball and it forced him to rely on setting himself up on the perimeter. Jamahl Mosley has stated that they are going to run much more 5 out this season, so you can expect Paolo to be used as a roll man often!

1/3 of the roster was injured in the first half of the season in 22-23. Mainly Fultz who is by default the Magic’s best playmaking Guard. This season is the first time in almost 3 years we have a complete roster without injury (fingers cross). They already showing their potential with that pre season game win against the pelicans and looked great defensively along with great ball movement lead by Fultz. So to understand truly what Paolo has as far as the roster is concern will be on full display this season baring there I no injury to key players. Magic on the rise.

And don’t forget Lebron was 6’9 275 at one point in Miami, and even right now he is easily 260, so don’t forget him, the Lakers have probably the best front court in term of defensive versatility because of them 2 (And of course this season Rui, Vanderbilt, Taurean Prince, Hayes or even Cam Reddish), they have a crazy front court+ Reaves who is one of the best 3rd option you can find in the whole league, especially for Lebron and AD, the fit is amazing and now we have Gabe, who is a much better fit than Shroder, the Lakers are deep this season, no excuses this year.

Hopefully the Magic can build a team around him there team management is horrible. They lost Shaq and Dwight already. Don't waste Paulo's carrer.

Banchero is like a slower, less athletic Lebron, but he has that deceptive speed and great handles for his size, a bit like Doncic, but Julius Randle also fit that description and he is an average player so its one thing to play similar to someone, and one thing to play similar AND be as good as someone . For exemple Derozan play like MJ or Kobe, he even has the same build, but he is nowear near as good as them, but Kawhi play like MJ or Kobe, and at his peak when he is healthy he can be just as good as them. And most of the time you can see that « it » factor, and i don’t see it in Paolo, there are so many great young players in the league that i don’t see him becoming even close to the player Lebron or even Doncic is, but i think he can be an ALL STAR level player like a KAT or Julius Randle.

Respect your opinion but I have to disagree. Paolo clearly has 'IT.' He was almost an all star his rookie season (East front court was stacked this season) even though his team was terrible to start the season. Has the respect from the top guys in the league and the refs. He is already as good as Randle and even KAT and he's only 20. And this FIBA experience is really good for him to see just how much he can still improve and learning a new role

@brandonsingh5083 agreed, from what I've seen (admittedly not a lot of Magic ball) he looks like he has some of the "it factor" that KAT just lacks. Of course we haven't seen him in playoff ball or over years of NBA minutes but he's a very exciting player.

Paolo definitely has IT. Kid thrives in pressure, his college, summer league, nba and fiba debut all showed that without a miss. Once is a coincidence but doing that multiple times isnt. It's even better for fiba cause he's playing out of position, initially looked confused playing center in the scrimmage and showcase games but quickly figured it out. He has it and that it is his high iq, something randle doesnt and something luka, kawhi and jokic has why they figure things and play to their strengths despite lacking elite athleticism or shooting initially. Paolo is only 20, if he's figured things out this quick as a rookie, what more in a few more years.

He has shown enough of that "it" factor for now, and you can see it in FIBA where he's playing out of position and still thriving. Why? Because he was able to adapt. Paolo has every chance to be a scoring champ and all around good player, thats a top 10 player in the league IMO. As far as the Lebron comparison, yeah Lebron was more athletic and quicker, but Paolo is bigger and TBH has better footwork than rookie Lebron. Rookie Lebron did not have Paolo's post moves. His footwork is closer to Melo. He's not going to be as good as Lebron, but maybe he can be as good as Melo.
