It's not that. For the sake of entertainment, defenders can barely touch opponents. A significant chunk of both Paolo and Franco (i'm an ac milan fan) would be punished with a freekick nowadays. Love both these guys, but pretty sure Maldini didn't partner up with Baresi at the back (or even if he did, not too many times). When Franco was playing, Maldini was the best left back in the world and only moved to centre back to fill in the hole that Baresi left after his departure. Great video though

? are you asking if i know strikers in the 90s or are you trying to say they scored less goals than strikers now. there are about 10 players today that play what was considered football in the 90, everybody else is a practice dummy. i guess van Basten was the best striker but there were a ton of other good strikers... in the 90s, when a striker was alone with the gk, comentators would call that a 100% chance because the attacker would almost score 100% of the times. often the attacker would dribble past the gk and score. now comentators never use that frase because attacker only score about 30% of the time in the same situation
