Played this last week as my father was laid to rest in the crematorium, he loved Burns, and he would have loved Paolos' rendition.

Paolo catches the whole philosophy of being Scottish - which is the same philosophy from Timbuktu to Cape Horn - The Scots Nation were never beaten and can always relate to their brothers - Maori, Navajo, Nigerian, Apache, Aborigine, Lakota, Ghanaian - the Scots stood up to the English government and spread their love across the whole world!

Brilliant. Paolo refreshes the ancient lyric of men who are human against all odds in a strident feminist age. When the Gay Men's Chorus from London appeared for the first time in Edinburgh in May 2007, they brought down the house when they left camp behind at the moment when a Scotsman came out in kilt and sang this Robbie Burns song. We American tourists who chanced upon this performance fainted dead away. Omigod. Go, Paolo, go. Where is your CD cut of this?

@TaiDieVest I have to disagree, this is not a song for the Hoi Polloi to sit in their drawing rooms and discuss the working classes patronizingly, Paolo captures the tone of the song perfectly, the rawer the sound of this song, the more fitting. (And by this comment I am in NO way suggesting Ronnie Browne is one of the Hoi Polloi.)
