@@ape8572 i think he was reffering to studies done on japanese corporate entities in which the long hours clocked in at work in the office do not match up with the rate of productivity. Basically culture dictaates you stay past your shift to work more however this doesnt actually translate to actual work being done. This is a tldr and im going to find you the data when i can to make sure i am giving correct info.
@kensavage76575 жыл бұрын
@@ape8572 Yep, the productivity in Japanese offices is often abysmal. To define "productivity", it's the effective level of output based on the unit of input. So, if you take 8 hours to build 8 items - an increase in productivity would see you build 9 items in the same 8 hours. Likewise, if each worker is only building 6 items in 8 hours, that's a decrease. Simple enough so far. If you increase the unit input, the unit output should be able to increase linearly. So if you work 10 hours a day, you should be able to produce 10 items at this rate of productivity. However, people aren't robots and when working longer, office work (especially) suffers. Worker's productivity is higher at certain parts of the day, and lower at others. Workers are most productive in the morning, and productivity lowers sometime after lunchtime. The more hours you work per week, the earlier each day this downward trend will begin. For this reason, constantly working longer hours actually lowers how much a worker produces on a daily basis. While many western companies recognise this shift, and the focus moves to a happier and more motivated productive workforce (for example, my previous company had an uncapped annual leave policy - you take whatever you feel you need) - Japanese culture is still very much that you work long and hard. It's a common unwritten rule in Japan that you cannot leave the office before your boss does. And your boss must wait for his boss to leave. So, regardless of whether you're actually busy or not - you stay at your desk until your boss leaves. If you leave before your boss - it WILL be noticed. People may be "at work" for 12 hours in a day - but you simply can't actually work that long every day. So much of the time is simply wasted, meaning lower productivity. Funnily enough, there's a subliminal reverse racism in Japan. If you are not Japanese (say you are black/white/whatever) - then you will always be considered a "Gaijin" (foreigner). You could live and work in Japan for 40 years, marry a Japanese person, speak the language perfectly and have children - and you'd still be considered a Gaijin. The expectation is that you would not be able to understand Japanese people and their culture. The good part of this is that Japanese workplace rules would not apply to you. If you work the same job with another Japanese person in an office, and you jump up to leave at 5pm while your co-worker stays until 8/9pm - no-one will take any issue with you doing this. You're always going to be considered the ignorant foreigner anyway, so you can't go down any further in their estimations :)

To see if they are worth for their children, to see if they've all the requirements and such. Not meeting the parents like backstreet does happen but that's mostly for kids/high school kids who only date for fun 😌 Once we become university students, most of us meet our partner's parents and vice versa.

Great video! You have so many different, interesting, insightful videos. There are lots of foreign vloggers making videos about their life in Japan, but yours -- with Japanese people starring in them, and commenting on how they feel about what's going on -- seem more objective. Also some of the things you point out -- for example the mover kneeling when receiving payment -- are things that even people who have lived in Japan for a long time might not even notice. And asking Arisa and Yujin about their intentions for getting married was fun/funny, too. Really impressive and useful video.

Great job dude - keep it up and looking forward to more of your videos.

Damn, the mover company being so considerate is what blows me away. Putting protection on walls/appliances. In the UK I swear when you move it's just assumed that they'll cause damage and it'll have to be taken out of your deposit hah. I love how polite they all are, and the traditions of respect are still so regular. Dunno about the landlord gift money though, jeez that seems crazy. Still wholesome af watching this.

Here in NYC, if you leave something outside the store, you will NEVER see it again. someone WILL steal it. Also, movers are extremely snobby and WILL break things all the time and even damage the apartment while doing it. and if you inquire about the breakage the movers have done, you will get yelled and cursed at and sometimes even assaulted. In many states its well known to NOT hire movers, if you are going to move, there better be someone who has a license that drives large trucks in your family. because trusting strangers with your property while moving will get stolen. A friend of mine moved recently with his wife and 2 kids. the movers broke the washing machine, and they also stole 25% of the DvDs from a box. mirrors and glass tables were broken and metal rods bent. When my friend tried to discuss this to the movers and asked why his things was broken, and huge yelling fight started happening that the cops was called. The moving company in return tried to sue my friend for reputation damages because y friend posted ratings on Yelp. the companies workers and friends started harassing my friend and his wife several times a month, to the point where a family member who is police officer had to step in. . When I seen this video, I couldn't believe Japan was much nicer. I hope America and Japan always stay friends, as I one day I want to visit Japan before I leave this earth forever.

My first roommate in college was Japanese and he made me really want to see Japan for myself. I got just a cursory experience when my first ship pulled in to Sasebo and then Yokosuka many years ago, then just a tease when I changed planes at Narita in 2016, but this year I got to spend almost 2 weeks there on business and I just loved it. It's not that different here in Europe. 1st month's rent, 2-3 months deposit and most flats require you to go through a broker who takes another 1-2 months worth of rent. (In my home country it's legal for the broker to charge you, even when he was hired by the landlord and does nothing more than hand you the keys. It's insane!)
