I hope everyone has an awesome New Year! Also, as mentioned before, my Paolo fromTOKYO Original Hot Sauce has sold out again, but there are a few bottles of Umami Ocean left in the shop if you want that milder kick. paolofromtokyohotsauce.com I'm hoping to get a new batch crafted in Japan soon and have the shop restocked in the next 1-2 months. Fun throwback. My son and I took the wrong train to our hotel the first time we traveled to Japan. We got off, I was nervous as wrecked we don't know where we're at. While waiting for the correct train on the platform, I felt so overwhelmed. I got culture shock suddenly looking around at the billboards. I told my son I wanna go back home:(. As soon as I turned my head around and saw this udon place and more food stalls with assorted snacks and sweets carefully wrapped in cuteness overload papers, the excitement came rushing back in. The anxiety attack disappeared in seconds. Best trip ever!

@@tysonristau4995 thank you for your feedback. I don't recall being hungry it was more on being on a strange, unfamiliar territory and not being able to read or speak the language. I remembered asking someone for direction and he was very helpful and friendly. That helped calmed the nerves a lot. It all worked out in the end.

As a Japanese person, I recommend Yayoiken, which is located at Abiko Station on the JR Joban Line. The soba noodles topped with super-large pieces of fried chicken are a local food that is famous among people who like to eat soba while standing. Abiko Station is located in Chiba Prefecture, and is a little far from the center of Tokyo. It may be a little difficult for beginners to visit. Also, the fact that the ticket machine only displays Japanese may be a hurdle. But I guarantee the taste.

Gotanda was my home base during my trip. I was a bit confused at why there was a restaurant right in the middle of the platform.😂 I didn’t try it because I wasn’t sure if they were English-friendly but I’ll give it a try next time. There’s actually a very similar restaurant downstairs that I visited several times. I love the simplicity of these types of places.

@@kanzerace That's actually not true. You have quite a number of immigrants/foreigners who work in these establishments and restaurants. They work the counter as well as cooking too. NHK World actually had a documentary about the different types of jobs they work at over in Japan.

You, my friend, need to get yourself to Nagoya! All of the Three Unfiers (Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu) are from that general area, and a bunch of famous battlefields of the Sengoku period (Sekigahara, Nagashino, Okehazama) are about a couple hours away by train. There’s also a bunch of castles, including Inuyama Castle, which has the oldest tenshu (main tower/keep) out of any surviving castle in Japan today. Plenty of Samurai-focused museums in the area too. I’m going next month, and I’m pretty stoked just planning the trip.

Stupid question. But as I'm going to Japan in '25...! If you really don't like spicy food, and are super allergic to shellfish (yeah don't all come for me lol) is there something you could advise I eat that is amazing? I love noodles, pork, chicken. I've had some awesome Japanese meals here in UK. But I know over there it's the real deal, language barrier and all! Super excited for my holiday though!!!!! ❤❤❤
@nicolewilson4058
@nicolewilson4058 10 сағат бұрын
It's not a stupid question at all. If you are going to eat ramen you can get the soy based broth (shoyu) or one made with miso. Like you had seen in the video you have pork and chicken tonkatsu. You have yakitori. Since you are allergic you might have to be careful with anything that has bonito flakes. Even though it is made from shaved skipjack tuna sometimes it can be paired with a seafood-based broth. Alot of times they have a menu with the pictures. You should be fine. Don't forget you have the konbini stores. Hope that helps! Hope you have a great holiday as well. 😊

It's pretty provoking by how cheap Japan actually is. Here in Sweden those meals as shown here had easily costed at least 3x more and up to 5x more! Of course a lot of worser in quality-wise too, much much much worser! There're hamburgers (not meals, just hamburger) on McDonalds here who costs +3x more than the meals on the video...
