What a legendary performance. I just watched this live on TV here in Sweden and i recognized their amazing talent. He's a great artist. He gives the song a totally different meaning, it comes off as poetic, and artistic instead of being a pop song to be lightly consumed.

Funny timing, this. My girlfriend and I were discussing the lore of Ghost today, and where the story might go next. One of the theories she proposed was the possibility that the Antichrist hasn't actually manifested himself yet - that the previous albums were more propaganda for the congregation than actual "in world' events for the universe Tobias built around the band... And that Copia may be the actual Antichrist finally rising to power. Then they dropped this song about an hour after that discussion. Not saying it's super probable, but I absolutely love it from a storytelling perspective. As always though: magnificent performance from Tobias, the ever so stylish and theatrical face of Ghost. Thank you for your artistry, sir!

Me and my friend were talking about this too, I really see this as a possibility. Perhaps he could literally be the devil’s advocate. If you’ve paid attention to everything coming out, like the artwork for papa 4, or perhaps the merch for papa 4, you’ll see that they are going far heavier on supernatural themes than every other album. There’s literally a shirt with “a demon’s eye atop papa emeritus 4’s altar.” I love that you point this out because I was thinking the same thing

Have you taken a look at that small Ghost series they did ? I guess you did... anyway. From what I understood, there is a big chance that Copia (now Papa IV) is Sister Imperator and Papa Nihil's son. A lot of hints are heading this way. However, now that you are talking about him being the antichrist, it makes me think that Sister had a phone call from someone called "The Old One". Maybe, after all, Copia is not Papa's son. That's what I like so much about this band. So much lore, so much theories about the characters. Can't wait for the next album.
