I shot dope for 23 years. From 17 to 40. I'm 43 now I'll have 3 years this may. It's been hard, my girl died a year ago because she started using again one Thursday night and she was dead by that Sunday night. Her 3day relapse ended her life and I got through that without running to get high like I wanted to so bad just to not deal with her death and maybe a part of me wanted to follow her and end myself. Ive been a hopeless romantic all my life, but as I've turned 39 in 2024 I sometimes feel like love and relationships may be bullshit. I see way too many people these days 40 and older growing old alone or still married/cohabitating but having separate bedrooms and separate lives despite living under the same roof. I myself have had several boyfriends and one husband. All relationships that have lasted half a decade or less. I've wondered if chose the wrong guys and/or there is somethings about me that caused these failed relationships and if I need to change. Now it's more like...why do I need to be in a relationship at all? I'm at the point where I'm not staying around anyone let alone a bf unless it's happy, safe, and stable. Otherwise I'm out.
