This is a great start for people starting to learn guitar. Something different from power chords and great for starting your up/down picking. Plus it helps to strengthen your pinky finger. Excellent for loosening up your fingers. It stepped me up a level when l 1st started playing. Also the song totally rocks !

I own a gibson les paul, a fender stratocaster custom shop, and a schecter tempest. I bought the tempest out of impulse cause I always wanted a white guitar. Its now the best, most versatile guitar in my opinion. At least the custom version, with coil tapping. I added a black les paul pickguard and modded it a little bit

Being a good musician isn't all based on your technical abilities. It has to do more with your feel for the song, where you are coming from, and what kind of soul you can bring to the song other than how many notes you can bring in.
@Fl0d3r Жыл бұрын
It's really a great riff & tone when you know all these bands at the time play in A standard, Drop C#, C or B. Something just impossible to do when you learn guitar. Jerry made so many killer riffs in Drop D.

I never said anything about shredding. Some of my favorite songs have no shredding at all and some are filled with it. I was always more excited to see someone in Guitar World that was reknown for their skill and had something to teach. That meant, and still means, more to me than seeing one of my favorite bands in there. For example, if he turned this into a lesson on transcribing something from piano to guitar without the knowledge of sheet music then I would love to see the vid.

For all the people saying that Papa Roach stole this riff - I just listened to THE Maiden and yes they did but! A shit load of bands steal from other bands and they call them "influences", Led Zeppelin done it, Bob Dylan stole almost all of his songs, oasis done it... And for people shouting about they are just money chasers, C'mon. 99.99% of bands you see on TV or hear on the radio could go under the same umbrella because if they weren't then why are they signed to major labels, selling there music, get TV air time and have a business team? There is nothing wrong with making money and playing music, it's a job.... I want paid. Just don't be so narrow minded because they say "man, it's all about the music" (yeah, that's 2000$ for my appearance).
@Joostgeurtskessel10 жыл бұрын
you should watch the vids about "everything is a remix" it shows really well how much everything is influenced by past creations of other bands, movies and inventions. Nothing is really a 100 % original anymore.
@spudvader10 жыл бұрын
joost gvk Nothing is rarely ever original because people are influenced by things and then in evolves into something different, making it there own thing. How do you define something new? Is it something that has never been done before, like a new style or is it something that has never been heard before? It's crazy to think that there is more music WAITING to be discovered than there has ever been created in history... EVER.
@jordanc672110 жыл бұрын
joost gvk Their are only so many chord and note progressions possible in each key; their are so many songs everyone of these patters has to be taken by now. Even if this riff is influenced by somebody else, look at all the talent and creativity that went into turning it into what Papa Roach did. This is a really great song, and I really love what they did with it.
@spudvader10 жыл бұрын
Jordan Conradt There is more completely new music that has never been heard before than there has been music created since the beginning of time. There is no reason for people to copy or even be influenced by any other music piece but humans are naturally influenced by others and that's why music will always sound similar to another piece. Also it's one thing to create a completely new genre of music but it's another thing to create something that a lot of people will like.
