Mooji for example, which I can't speak for, but I've read his biography..He was working on a brixton street selling tea after his realization with papaji. It took a few years to become known locally as the go to guy for inquiry into life itself. It's a gradual process of 'becoming' a 'teacher' Eventually there's little time for work because there's literally hundreds of people trying to ask you questions. So it's not like Mooji quit his job one day and decided to be a 'guru' over night.

One cannot 'decide' to be a guru at all! It is a phenomenon, it happens, when we talk about enlightened or real ones. Being a 'teacher' is not the same, a teacher is learned. A guru - as the translation of the word means (heavy) - is a presence, in the best state a divine presence.

our basic problem is that we only want to follow or believe what guru said or not. all guru trying to free us from this attitude. if one rally interested in truth , he/she can pay money or leave home or sacrifice for it. money is not important. just ask what u want and go ahead... yes many fake gurus/religious institution earning money in the name of satsang etc. but for a true seeker, true gurus are always available. sometimes we have to pay just for external arrangement not for profit. but first ask yourself if u really want truth.

Papaji never said that Mooji got realized. Papaji said that he met only few jannis in his life, and none of them were his students. David Godman confirmed this statement, who was chosen by Papaji to be his official biographer. Papaji encouraged many to be ambassadors of his teachings. And many of them transferred from ambassadors to gurus, only after Papaji left his body. I'm not saying that it is not possible that they got realized in meantime, but just to note a simple fact that Papaji regarded all enlightenment experiences happening to his students as temporal, and not as a full and permanent realization of the Self. There is also another very important fact, that Papaji and Ramana Maharshi stated many times, and in all cases clearly insisted on, and that is that it's not possible to have pure Satsang if money is charged for it. Papaji repeated very often that Satsang that requires payment is corrupted. The argument that fees make the Satsang possible and available to more people is simply not valid. The missionary attitude goes directly against the basic message of this teachings, and all genuine Advaita teachings. If donations are not making the Satsang possible, that means that it doesn't have a basic support from the universe. The problem is that you are taking one remark and using to prove a much larger point. You also do not know the context in which that remark was made. Mooji never said anywhere that Papaji said he was enlightened. By the same token I have read many Ramana books and seen his videos and I've not read/seen him say Papaji was enlightened either! For sure some people claim to be enlightened teachers and are not, but in my opinion Mooji is not one of them. Regarding money, I am sure that both Papaji and Ramana must have taken some donations otherwise unless they were both independently wealthy, how would they have built ashrams or eaten? There must have been monetary help in some way. Some people just like to find fault with everything.

I am looking for someone who could confirm that Mooji on December 23, 1993 had really a deep spiritual experience in Lucknow after this video. Unfortunately, Mooji did not report it to anybody at this time or write any letter to Papaji about his spiritual experience in Lucknow later on. Papaji said nothing offensive, but his assertion that there could not be God and Mooji at the same time is very troubling. It is real death. Anger can also come from fear, and to realize that one must surrender to annihilation in order for awakening to truly happen is very frightening. Its why there aren't many awakened people around. We all want 'awakening', but we want to be 'me' AND 'awakened'. That's not how it works. Awakening means not only the death of 'you' but the death of your entire world and universe. Moojis ego may also have felt hurt (it was his ego that wrote the letter). He may have felt some pride being at Papajis feet, "look how devoted I am." Papaji pulled the rug from under him. 'No. Even though you think you are being humble and devoted, I see the arrogant ego, and this ego must go.' Ouch!
