No, that's not what was considered by Vatican II nor John XXIII. The idea was that PARTS of the Latin Rite Mass could be celebrated in the vernacular. Just as PARTS of it would involve literal "active" participation by the laity. There was never any thought of a new form of the Mass or the complete loss of the use of Latin in the liturgy outside the rare Latin Novus Ordos or the Extraordinary Form, the idea was that the old Mass would undergo some small alterations.

My point was simply that the English church never declared itself out of communion with Rome; that declaration was made by Rome. In any event, what does that have to do with the original point - which was the unity we do share through the Blessed Sacrament? Regardless of how one regards the nature of Christ's presence in the sacrament, Catholics and Anglicans agree that He is present. Unity is of more material validity and worth than varying opinions on the details of what that presence means.

True there is no evidence that Jesus spoke Latin, but it stands to reason that he would have. Most of the world at that time spoke Latin to some degree and it would have been difficult to reach as many people as he did without the ability to speak Latin. I also doubt that the bible would have been written ( or compiled) in a language that Jesus didn't speak.

IfJesus did speak a second language, it would most likely have been greek rather than latin. Many Jews spoke greek, presumably as a vestige of Alexander the Great's conquest of the Middle East only two centuries before. Knowledge of greek amongst the roman conquerors was also widespread. Ordinary romans spoke vulgar rather than classical latin.

If you'll recall, it was Rome that subsequently broke with England, not the other way around. As for the Articles, priests in my national church (Canada) have never had to assent to them

True Apostles were "eyewitnesses" to the life of Jesus Christ Himself & chosen by Him. Should Christmas and Easter celebrations and all other festivals not also be cancelled and the money given to the poor? Should the money spent on the biblical wedding at Cana and on the precious ointments used by Mary Magdalene to anoint the feet of Christ not also have been given to the poor (as Judas Iscariot suggested in the latter case)? Jesus seems to have thought otherwise. In the secular world, should we cancel all major sporting, cultural and artistic events to raise money for the giving of alms? How much need a papal coronation cost? Many of the vestments and regalia already exist and are recycled: the tiara worn by John XXIII was made for one of his predecessors so cost nothing and is most likely earning its keep on display as a museum piece. Or, perhaps, we should empty all museums and art galleries of their treasures and sell everything off, including all our personal possessions, to raise money for those less fortunate? How far are you prepared to go along this puritanical route?

The article on Wikipedia, "Anglican Eucharistic theology," provides a good run-down of the available options. The Vatican still has around 20 former papal tiaras and most popes since Paul VI were each given their own papal tiara which they never wore. Apart from Paul VI, all popes in recent centuries wore one of their predecessors' tiaras at their coronations. There is no obstacle to prevent a future pope from wearing a tiara if he wished to do so and certainly not the lack of the physical object itself.
