I was never a fan of ChrisG, but seeing his reaction to winning EVO made me think twice about him. He didn't "pop off" and go wild but he sat there with an almost shocked expression on his face. A face that says "...I won? I actually won?" That showed humility; it showed humanity that even though people said he was the best maybe he didn't really believe it himself. It showed there really is a good guy there.

Why was ChrisG not liked? Was it his play style?
@alexanderperez2096

@@xblfanatic360 use to like Chris g. But the guy is an elite pos. He tweets about embracing newer players to the fgc. But when he streams he shits on everyone for just trying to learn. That’s personally why I’m not to fond of Chris g. Good player yes. Good to people trying to learn fighting games definitely not.
@SoulFistGaming
@SoulFistGaming 2 жыл бұрын
@@xblfanatic360 everyone hates the guy who always wins. Especially if everyone else is doing rushdown and he's zoning. People watch marvel to see cool combos but chris was always the guy who took that away from them. I however loved watching him win because I'm a huge Morrigan fan and it was nice to see her represented.
@Yawdan
@Yawdan 2 жыл бұрын
@@xblfanatic360 it depends. Most people didn't actually dislike him, but rather trolled him as he let it get to him eg they chanted PS3 at him after he lost to SenorTaxi and (rightly) blamed the lag on the platform (UMVC3 subsequently switched to XBox 360 in tournaments thereafter). Others then hated his play style, then his dominance which killed off most competition. But his most controversial thing, and the reason I and others stopped messing with him (though acknowledged his skill and brilliance at the game) was the racism scandal. It was poorly handled by the FGC and lasted longer than it should have. But things continued to move, and I still say he's one of the best players, or even the best UMVC3 player.

Chris G was always the "bad guy" in the scene to me lol. I wanted Kane to get his second, but honestly, especially looking back now we know it was the last "proper" Marvel Evo, you can't say Chris didn't deserve it. He put the time in, grinded and finally got the championship he had hunted for years. I don't particularly like his team, his play style or from what I've seen online, his attitude. But you can't say he hasn't perfected it and become one of the best UMvC3 players ever. I'm so glad you spoke about his Virgil as well, he's known for his Morrigan/Doom spam, but personally I think he's Virgil play is the best part of his line up. Potentially the best Virgil in the world.

People who weren't there at the time don't understand the change ChrisG brought. We were so used to kind of "degenerate" gameplan in UMvsC3 than when ChrisG perfected a keep-away zoning heavy team, people HATED it as he forced people to play so much differently. People were saying it was dumb, braindead, easy but everyone who played the game at a high level knew that only ChrisG was able to do this at the time. It took YEARS for people to play a morrigan at this level, and ChrisG wasn't just an incredible fireball zoner with Morrigan, he also was someone who knew when to go-in and had incredible combos with her (while everyone who tried to mimic him sucked ass at it). Chris G was also the person with the best defense among the three initial god (Justin, Fchamp & him), it made it even more difficult to beat him because he would block perfectly so many fucking times. People think that ChrisG is a villain because his personnality isn't easy and he said some very stupid shit (many top players in the FGc are pure dumbass, Arturo being outed shouldn't surprise too much), but he was a villain because beating him was so fucking hard it was an event to see him loose. Everyone cried about his playstyle but nobody else could do it. I hope you can make a video about Fchamp too, Fchamp is an absolute scumbag of a person but watching him play marvel was something out of magic. Nobody moved like Fchamp in marvel, hell even when he played SF4 and even SF5, you could see how fucking smart and smooth this guy was. Fchamp Vs Mago (Dhalsim Vs Sagat) on SF4 are matches that will forever stay in my head as one of the most beautiful display of what a fireball/zoning war can be.

Fchamp is a great guy. He only played a character. I'd say around season 2 or 3 of sfv he was teaching people how to play with every character from the roster and giving tips if asked. Nobody and I mean nobody helped the community more than him. He invested a minimum of 10 hours a day every day for 7-15 days until he reached platinum (or above) with every character and that whole time it was tips and tech plus helping. All for free no tip required for questions and he will read and properly answer whatever you asked. He played a villain, he is not a villain.

I can't remember more than once or twice EVER that he went high in these situations. I always assumed it was because there was something wrong with her jump attacks at that height, like to slow, not enough hit stun, etc. Regardless, I never see anyone block low, and it's very confusing, especially if he doesn't have a good high options.
