I don't completely doubt you though, I would not be suprised if it was with MSnake and their evil editing. It's just all the articles I've been reading have had the translation along these lines, "we can do it. The original singer is here, but we'll show another side that only we have. I think we can do better than the original". I could see how they might be mistranslating it on the show though, considering the mentors don't look super mad or upset with her. They do look a bit taken aback, but from what I know Culture wise, what she said is something that's probably more likely to be taken as rude/cocky rather than as confident; Like she could have meant it to be. However regardless of this instance, I still think she knew what she was saying when she said "We go up, but you don't". Mainly because from what I have been reading, she is fluent in English and I don't know what other way that could be taken. Overall I wouldn't be suprised if MSnake is making it all seem worse through evil editing, but I also don't think Fu Yaning is making it very hard for them to do so. I think she is trying to put on this persona of being fierce to gain attention (and with it a better chance of debuting), but her "All publicity is good publicity" ideology is not going to end very well for her. The way she is going about it is making her very unlikable and it's going to cause her a lot of trouble career wise. If she would have just taken the high road and let her talent speak for itself, I think she would have had a decent chance at debuting. She might have even gained some supporters along the way, but this first impression ruined that for her.

I am a native Mandarin speaker myself, and that mistranslation stood out to me immediately when I read the english subtitles, and serves as an example of the kinds of twisted editing that occurs to stir up more drama than exists. However, I truly agree with everything you said, especially the fact that Fu Yaning would’ve had a good chance of debuting if she just let her skills ans charisma speak for themselves. I really hope people can eventually look past this moment of immaturity and brashness and see the talent and love for kpop that is driving her to such lengths.

I think she just forgot that this show is targeted to produce 'KPOP group' which she must acknowledge by now that Kpop getting bigger each day. If Yujin is like a normal trainee, I would think, maybe it reasonable for her to do so (but still a big no-no for me). But the fact that Yujin is THE original singer for that song that has been charted in the KPOP INDUSTRY, and for her to do that in this kinda program, there's no other word to describe that kinda behavior other than 'disrespect'. Their them song stage nearly recorded for 40 hours and they only had 2 to 3 hours to sleep in each day. theres was actually a translation mistake by mnet's evil editting. someone did a vid on it but anw, because they omitted the word "甚至” in the translation, which actually means "even though". "We can surpass them" actually is better translated as "We could even surpass them" BUT ”甚至” real definition is EVEN THOUGH. it is used as a conjunction here hence the closest english word would be "even" but that still isnt accurate enough. Basically theres no exact english word to replace it but what FYN meant is "even though the original singer is there, we can show a different side/charm, and could eventually surpass them." it was completely neutral actually.

Liang Qiao confirmed in her pocket48 live that their first stage song selection was decided by programme. Their theme song stage nearly recorded for 40 hours and they only had 2 or 3 hours to sleep in each day.
