On the machine from the Pinball Arcade app, the lock shot to the left of the castle entrance can be used during Royal Madness to replace whichever of the uncompleted shots is farthest to your left (catapult, then joust, then peasants, then damsel), except that you still have to knock down the trolls yourself.

It is many years since I played pinball on a physical machine. In fact, I’ve never played Medieval Madness on an actual machine. I have though played it many times on the Farsight Pinball Arcade. That has been discontinued for new purchases but me and a friend continue to use the many games he bought. It’s occasionally very tricky now. I was cruising along at about 95-million on Medieval Madness (a personal best) when the game just turned off! I had a ball in play and another ball still to play. The other challenge is something we call ‘warp a ball’ …when the ball speed slows down and everything gets a little fuzzy. I come here to see the finer points of these games. Often we just bash away. Here though I can learn where the bigger rewards are, and how to reduce risks and extend play. Thanks for playing, recording and uploading.

It’s not mentioned in this video: to enable the super skill shot opportunity you need to engage and hold the left flipper up before you plunge the ball. As is seen done here on the launch of the first ball.
@FranekAIC3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, right. I try to destroy as many castles as posible with ball 1 and ball 2 which I beggin via super skill shot. My ball 3 is for multiball which grows end of ball bonus quickly. Super skill shot is 100 000 points plus 1 million hurry up. But regular skill shot is 50 000 points plus 6X bonus! His first ball would bring more score with regular skill shot. That would be 13 million bonus or more instead of 11 million bonus. Play super skill shot and go for the castles. Go for regular skill shot and play as many multiballs as possible.

I used to play this a ton at our local arcade from 99-02 and stumbled upon a ‘bug’ that allowed you to get castle hits without firing the ball at the gate…. I don’t know if this was unique to our machine at the arcade or if it could be replicated elsewhere. Considering what you needed to do, it is probably repeatable on other MM machines, but I have only ever played on the one….and this place kept their machines in tip-top condition. If I exploited the bug I could put up scores in the 350 million range without much effort, which subsequently led me to not use the bug ever again!
@zaphod772 жыл бұрын
Probably a messed up wire. this is a physical problem. on some games you can get points just by flipping because of a fault like this. or the gate could be registering when you nudge? either way it shouldn't work, and doesn't on most.
@Xhyron2 жыл бұрын
@@zaphod77 Yes! That about sums it up.. When I gave the machine a smack(nudge) or two near either of the flipper buttons to manipulate the trajectory of my ball, this is when from time to time, the game would register an erroneous drawbridge/gate hit.. It was not a guarantee and you had to nudge it just right for the hit to register. I was able to take the gates down quite easily doing this and only needed to sink the kill shot after the gate had been raised. Needless to say the novelty of this ran out relatively quickly and I stopped doing it as to actually have a challenge when I played. Still, even with that bug, Medieval Madness and The Addams Family were two amazing machines. My two favorites by far that are still fun to play to this day.

This was pretty amazing play! My local bar has this and it won't lock the ball next to the castle and the castle won't get destroyed. Is this mean there are bad sensors that need fixed??
@QuantumMythics2 жыл бұрын
The medieval madness I have available to me doesn't let you capture the ball. When you have it come down from the left at the start of the game, you manage to pretty quickly capture the ball. Mine bounces off the left flipper all the way to the top of the dragon ramp! How do you control the ball when the flippers are so rubbery?

Nice tutorial thanks :) I have been practicing my live catches on my new MMR-LE and can get them but not as smooth as yours :) Could you tell me what the outlanes are set at for MM PAPA comps? are they at default in the middle of the slide adjustment
@PAPApinball8 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Cathcart Outlane settings depend on the skill division. In Lower divisions, they are normally in the default middle position. At the world championships division, they are either at their widest setting or removed entirely, depending on how difficult the rest of the game is set up.

What i'm struggling to understand is how the ball never goes down an outlane until later in the video. Is that just luck or is he doing something i'm not seeing that stops it? Whenever I play (which is only once or twice a month, so i'm still a newbie) I often lose balls as they bounce on the pin between the in and outlanes.

Why do you have the replay counter turned off? you should have won at least two games, one for points and one or two for high score if you get first place, I jut got 101 on my machine the other day, so you did great on the first ball then just fell apart, do you have free balls turned off too?

This is a PAPA game, so the machine is setup without a lot of things that you might see in an arcade. If you want to challenge yourself, remove post rubbers and turn off extra balls.

This is one of the most overrated games on the planet... It is beautiful, and has a lot of gimmicks, and some fun sounds, but someone should work on a rom that reduces castle scoring!! For the money this game costs you can buy 3 pins, or even a Stern premium....
