Measurements: It's a 3 frames animation. Black stripes are 4 millimetres each and the gaps in between are 2 millimetres. It's a very minute stripes to make with hands. It took lots of efforts and patients 🙂

It is real! I think you have not done enough research. It's 100% achievable but very tricky. It took more than a month for me to learn, practice and finally make it perfectly for the video. The one I have made is a 3-frame animation and it's complicated. I suggest you to first learn the simple 2-frame animation by going through other youtube videos and then try it. Note that the dimensions are very important here and it needs lot of practice.
