Ingvar Tensmo I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the video. All of my videos are very chatty so you might be happier not watching them in the future. I went to your channel and watched your videos so I could see how you prefer for videos to be done. You don't speak in your videos or show how anything is done, but from what I can tell you appear to be a very talented sculptor.

I'm not sure which I enjoyed more. The video itself or the graceful way you put rude people in their place. Kudos to you. I've never understood how so many rude people think it's ok to spew their nastiness wherever they please. Seriously just move on then. Glad I happened by. Some of those beads you mad are downright gorgeous.

The Queen of info! I love making paper beads with brown paper bags, magazine, sales papers and, now you have me wanting to cut up all my "pretty but just not me" scrap papers and see what beads I can come up with. Saw a KZbin on how to make your own bead roller. Looked really simple to make, and I have every thing to make one. If I didn't have to do my Art Geeks background thingy today, I'd cut right into the papers and start rolling.

Anyone who watches your channel knows that you and knives and pokey things are something that one has to adjust too in order to listen and watch your mad skills. lol lol Will have to give these a try. I recently started making paper beads and found that I really like using allen wrenches to roll my beads. I bought a small set of them and the effect is really neat. The beads are naturally different sizes and it is really easy to roll them.

This is the second time I intend to leave my comment. It disappeared before I did enter it. I really like the way you teach. We need to know some details that probably are not important for some people, but they're useful. I really enjoy your talking, your sweet voice and the familiar and personal way to explain, and the good tips you give. I feel like if I were just at your side, and that's make me feel more secure about what I'm learning. The sad thing is that some people do not appreciate the kind way of doing things. They're so much mechanical, but while we're alive, we have to try to continue being human and kind, like we should be. Thank you very much for your time and dedication.

That's so sweet of you, thank you! I really don't mind the grumblers. I know some folks don't care for my rambling and that's okay. When I film a video I pretend we're just sitting at my kitchen table visiting and doing crafts. What you see is just plain ol' me. I won't be cutting out the rambling parts because that wouldn't be the real me.

Those are some very pretty beads! They are addicting for sure. I've strung some on wire and then dipped them in Future floor polish to seal them inside and out. And I've seen beautiful silk and paper beads that had their ends dipped in gold, silver or black UTEE. Very elegant looking. I will try the resin next time. TFS!

You are so fun to listen to! I made paper beads years ago, then stopped when I realized I couldn't figure out a way to seal/glaze them that I liked. I'm getting into it again, as well as looking into making beads from other materials like felt and yarn. Your embellishment ideas are fantastic! Also, PLEASE keep an eye on your reaction to the resin. A sensitivity can rather spontaneously become a life-threatening allergy all too quickly. I'd hate to see you or someone else end up seriously I'll (or worse) due to not being aware of this.

Laynie Fingers You are so sweet to be concerned, Laynie, thank you! I don't use resin very often anymore but when I do I handle it carefully. Ice Resin used to be the only 'jewelry grade' resin available and that's why I started using it but now there are some other brands out there that I intend to try. They might not be any better but ya never know :) I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate you taking the time to watch!

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. Great video I have not read all the comments so I might be repeating something that was already said BUT you can get that metallic thin tape in the nail art department. It is used to decorate your nails. Hi, Shannon! Great videos! I learned how to make these paper beads, way back in the early 90's. I made a couple of necklaces out of wrapping paper. I would like to do these again, as long as they are waterproof. I definitely used the wrong glue and didn't use anything to keep the beads from falling apart, due to sweating and humidity. Thank you, so much, for the helpful tips.

I am new to paper beading. I have only glazed a couple of sets but I had problems with the beads sticking to the toothpicks. My next glazing I plan to use fishing line and dip the beads in a varnish or diluted varnish. I think it would be good to get the beads coated on the inside too.
@ShannonGreen
@ShannonGreen 8 жыл бұрын
+Robin Huffman Inside coating is a good idea. If your bead holes are small you will want to make sure your varnish is thin enough to drain through them. I keep my toothpicks coated with Vaseline which helps to prevent sticking.

I agree ... you and sharp objects ...not a good mix. I had no idea you could use resin like this. Would modpog be an ok sealer to use before the resin? I love how your beads turned out!

Beeswax might work but it makes me a little nervous since Ice Resin is sometimes used to seal encaustic wax pieces and it has to stick to the wax to do that. The Vaseline is messy but it's cheap and I know it works!

A good way to measure resin is to sqeeze your bottles and 'push' the resin on a surface in equal parts to resemble pancakes. This is a great way to measure! keep in mind that the resin viscosity is greater (thicker) then the hardner, so squeese your resin pancake before the hardner.

Pool noodles cut in half lengthwise so one side fits flat on your table & then to whatever size works for you works well too. That foam takes forever to break apart after stabbing it with your toothpicks over & over with new projects.

You can find that metallic tape or pin striping on ebay. They mostly sell it as a nail art item, but hey I love multi use items my self so there you go... Search for nail tape and you will get a variety for less than two dollars.

That makes you practically normal then! I actually love Arkansas. We took a quirky little vacation there a few years ago. If you have time and want to read about our Arkansas adventures, check out my blog Mundane Entertainment. I think there's a link on my channel. Somewhere. Go back to August 2010 and there's a series of about 9 blog posts that I did while we toured Arkansas. Some of it is hilarious, especially our traumatizing bathhouse experience.
