I freakin' love this Dragon. I'll have to admit that doing scales not only it's pretty challenging but it takes FOREVER to make the scale patterns. When I first started sculpting my Dragon mask back since the December of last year I had no problem doing the head shape & all but the scales on that Dragon I did took me three freakin' months to do. It was worth it, molded it & cast it with latex, then did all the paint job looks exactly like a Dragon, Heck it even looks like one of those Traditional European Medieval Dragons. Other than that, the Dragon looks beautiful. Great job.
@RaysDragonLair6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yeah the scales take forever, but they are worth it in the end. I would like to see your mask.

That was riveting! TY SO much for sharing this! Your style is very Dan Reederesque! :) What did you make the eyes out of or where did you buy them from? What did you use for the scales...were they papier mache or were they some sort of clay or both?? I luv the colors and the amazing amount of detail! Excellent job! I hope to see many more from you! You're truly an inspiration! :)
@RaysDragonLair5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I did buy Dan Reeder's book and learned most of this from him; he is awesome. I bought the eyes from Etsy from this guy: www.etsy.com/shop/artistJP?ref=notif_nfyfs&order=date_desc I bought a bunch of eyes from him. The scales are paper clay and the teeth are sculpey clay. I have videos on my channel on how they are made and other dragon videos on this channel. I do have more to come also. Thank you for watching.

Oh I see in details that you used sculpey and paper clay. But if you used sculpey….how do you dry it?....just air dry?

I am not sure what you mean? Attaching the jaws to the neck?
@tristandagreat55276 жыл бұрын
Yes attaching it is what I’m looking for .... sorry
@RaysDragonLair6 жыл бұрын
When I make the tongue, I build it over a wire and leave a bit of wire hanging out the back of it. I glue this wire in the neck then glue the lower jaw onto the tongue and neck. I then use tape to hold the jaw in place. I then glue and tape the upper jaw to the neck. I glue and tape a small piece of wire to the neck and the upper jaw to help hold it on place (there is sometimes a gap between the neck and jaw. I also use a small wooden dowel to keep the mouth open; it is just propped in the mouth to hold it open while I tape and glue everything together. Last step is putting cloth mache on the neck to strengthen it.

Damn 50 hours for this work and I have already used like 3 months and got less than a month left for my art project. I really don't like my procrastination lmao
@RaysDragonLair4 жыл бұрын
I just counted up all the hours I worked on it over the 2 months it took me to make it. It was not 50 continuous hours. Because I filmed the process it was easier to count up the hours it took. Keep at your project, you will get to the finish line.
