God I love the cut scene of Dry Dry Ruins rising from the sand. There's such weight to its reveal with all the shaking, the music cutting out after the reveal, and the desert turning to night. I just wish the night sky didn't vanish the moment you go to a different screen.

Goombario's Log Day 15: *gasping* Finally! We made it to Dry Dry Outpost. I don't want to see another particle of sand ever again when this adventure is over. Anyway, after going around the Outpost we eventually met up with Moustafa, a follower of the former King Mousta. Apparantly, Dry Dry Ruins was his kingdom before his subjects rose against him. He grew an army and defeated the traitors, and since then his followers have guarded the secrets to Dry Dry Ruins. Moustafa gave us a Pulse Stone to help us track down the location of the ruins, meaning we had to walk through the desert again. I'm just gonna say it; I don't like sand. It's course, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere. Kooper's Log Day 10: So, this Sheek mouse was actually Moustafa this entire time! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. Apparantly there's this whole origin to Dry Dry Ruins but I was pretty exhausted from our travels that I didn't pay too much attention to it. It's probably not important though. I mean, as long as there are no un-dead monsters in the ruins waiting to attack us, we should be fine. Bombette's Log Day 9: While exploring Dry Dry Outpost, we got to meet Merlee, Merluvlee's twin sister we've heard about before. She casted a special spell onto Mario that will grant him bonuses in battle. Whether they be attack or defense, coins or star pieces, she'll pop up to aid us in battle. I wonder what Goombario thought of her? He still seemed a bit dazed after all that walking. Parakarry's Log Day 4: Welp, here it it. After we delivered a letter to a Nomadimouse, the Pulse Stone led us to Dry Dry Ruins. The ruins rose from the ground as the sky turned dark, almost as if we've unearthed an unspeakable evil upon the world once more. Also, all that blowing sand got in my wings. Cleaning these is going to be a real hassle tonight. *Merlee's Hut* Merlee: Welcome pals of boys and gals. What brings you here to the greatest seer? Kooper: Merlon told us about you. Apparantly you set up a shop here in Dry Dry Outpost. Merlee: Tee hee yes that is me. You're a smart little mister, perhaps you know about my sister? Bombette: Yeah, Merluvlee. Your twin sister. Though I must say for being twins you do look pretty different. Karry: How can you even tell; they wear hoods all the time. Kooper: Say, where's Goombario? He seemed pretty stoked to meet you. Goombario: Here I am. Right here. I just, needed some more water that's all. So, what did you need me fo... *looks at Merlee, twinkling stars surround her face* Say, did somebody, turn the sun up, or did just get, a lot hotter, here.... *passes out* *everyone stares at Goombario* Kooper: I'll get him some more water. Karry: I'll start fanning him with my wings again. Bombette: Sorry Merlee. I can't tell if he's still suffering from the heat, or he just fell in love at first site. Trust me, he apparently did this with Merluvlee. Merlee: From the heat, or from his heart's beat? Bombette: Da Fuzz if I care. Look, you'd said you'd lend us your magic power when we're in battle. Maybe then we can properly introduce you two together. Merlee: That sounds lovely. You can count on me, Merlee. P.S. I think after this I might separate these recap replies to every 5 days or so. I don't want the replies to be super clustered every time so spacing it out for five episodes seems pretty fair.

Goombario's Log: Day 1 Wow. This has been one of the craziest days of my life. First a massive earthquake breaks our fence, then a mysterious man falls from the sky, which turned out to be Mario. THE Mario. Man, I was so excited to finally meet him in person once he woke up. Unfortunately, things went south pretty quickly. This witch Kammy Koopa put a big block right on our fence door preventing us from leaving. And what's worse is that Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach again. Oh man, if only there was something I could do? Goombario: Dad! Sis! What happened!? Goompapa: Goombario! This wicked Kammy Koopa just broke our fence, again. Goombaria: And worse, it seems Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach, again. Goombaria: Aw man, what can we do? Goompapa: Don't worry son. I sent Mario to find Goompa and borrow his hammer. That should break the block no problem. Goombaria: Although, he's been in there for a while and hasn't come out yet. You think something's wrong? Goombario: Eh. Gooma's probably telling him another one of her long-winded stories. There's nothing to worry about, besides the thing that we should be worried about. Goombario's Log Day 2: OMGoomba! I can't believe it! I get to go on an adventure with Mario! Oh man, I'm so excited! I know my family is excited to see me head out, though my mother wants me to be safe and my sister is a bit jealous, but that doesn't matter. I can't wait to head out and save the princess from Bowser. Here we go! Goombario: What the Koopa Shell! Dad! Sis! The veranda is gone! Goompapa: What! What do you mean gone!? Goombario: I went to check in on Goompa and Mario to see what was taking so long and when I opened the door the veranda was gone! Goombaria: How could an entire veranda just disappear? Goompapa: Perhaps that wicked Kammy Koopa broke it when she left. I just hope the two of them are okay. Goombario: I'm not worried about Mario. I just hope Goompa is okay. Goombaria: He'll be fine. His skull is as thick as yours. Goombario: Hey! But you do have a point. Goombario's Log Day 3: Today's the start of my adventure with Mario. I've got everything packed and ready to go. On our way to Star Summit we ran into some troublesome goombas which were no problem for us. But then, we ran into Blue, Red, and King Goomba on our travels. Even still they were pushovers thanks to Mario and I. We sent those guys packing and cleared a path towards our destination. Everything's going great so far, though I have a feeling that while I'm writing this entry, that we're being watched. Eh, it's probably nothing. ???: Hey hey! Hold it right there! You! Yeah you, suspicious guy! Don't move! Goombario: Mario! Over there! Mario: *looks in the opposite direction* Goombario: No. The other way. Mario: *looks towards the camera* Goombario: Other, other way! Mario: *looks at the ledge* Oh. Woah! *meanwhile* Kammy Koopa: Hahaha. So, looks like the Goomba King wasn't tough enough to defeat Mario. I'm afraid my worst fears are realized. He has regained his strength so quickly. I must alert King Bowser immediately. Mario must not make it to Bowser. *flies off to Peach's Castle* Goombario's Log Day 4: After trouncing the Goomba Bros and King Goomba, we made our way to Toad Town. The residents there were pretty riled up after losing the castle and Peach. We spoke with Mario's brother, Luigi, who was watching the house as well. He seems nice. But, we had more serious matters to attend to. We made our way to Shooting Star Summit, where; OMGoomba, I finally got to meet Murluvlee! She's even more gorgeous than I imagined! I hope she wasn't reading my mind at that moment. Was there anything else that happened? Eh, maybe it'll come back to me later. *outside Murluvlee's house* Goombario: Okay Goombario, you've got this. It's only your childhood crush that you're finally meeting in person for the first time ever. Focus okay, you've got this. Mario: *opens the door* Murluvlee: Well, well. If it isn't Mario and Goombario. I foresaw your arrival here. Goombario: She knows my name. She knows my name! *passes out* Murluvlee: Is he okay? Mario: *shrugs* Murluvlee: I definitely didn't foresee that happening. Goombario's Log Day 5: After making our way down Shooting Star Summit, we ran into Twink; a star spirit sent by Princess Peach to tell us she's doing fine. But I feel like we should hurry along and get to her as soon as possible. We met up with Merlon, the grandfather of Merluvlee, who told us to head to Koopa Village to meet a 'Blue Shelled Koopa'. Don't know what he meant by that but I'm excited to meet them. Oh, and we also took on the Toad Town Dojo and managed to beat 2/3 of the competitors. We weren't strong enough to take down the Master though, but if you could have seen that fight, we might have beat him with a bit more luck. But anyways, we arrived in Koopa Village only to see it being ravaged by Fuzzies. The people are being attacked as I am writing this and Mario is just standing there doing nothing right now. Maybe he'll come to his senses by tomorrow, if the Koopas are still alive by then. *meanwhile at the dojo* Master: Well Mario, you've done well to challenge me to a fight. But this is where your run ends. Take this! *miss* What? Um, let me try that again. *miss* Huh!? Hold on, let me adjust my staff real quick. Ok. Hiya! *miss* What the!? *miss* Oh come on! *miss* Grrrrr!!! *throws the staff at Mario, hits him* Yes! Ha! First try! Better luck next time Mario. Woo Hoo. *starts coughing and hacking* *later at Koopa Village* Goombario: Mario! The koopas are under attack! Do something! Mario: *staring into the distance* Goombario: Mario? Earth to Mario! Are you here!? Mario: *static* (Inner Monologue: How did I survive so long against the Master?) Goombario's Log Day 6: Mario finally woke up and bonked a fuzzy that stole a koopa's shell, allowing us to retrieve it. We then went around and got the rest of the resident's shells back before running into Kooper, the blue-shelled koopa Merlon told us about. His shell also got stolen by a fuzzy, so we had to chase after it. Once we got it back and gave it to Kooper, he wanted to join our party. Mario seemed a bit resistive to letting him join, but he agreed and let him join the party. So now we're a team of three staring down Koopa Bros. Fortress. Nothing can stop us now! Kooper's Log Day 1: Holy Shell! I can't believe it! I'm going on an adventure with Mario! You don't know how excited I am to be traveling with him. Of course, it's not just Mario I'm going with. There's this little goomba named Goombario that's here as well. He's pretty cool, I guess. But I mean, Mario's there too. But enough fanboying, time to show those Koopa Bros. who's the real Koopa King. Kooper: So, that was Mario's brother Luigi, right? Goombario: Yup. He seems a bit bummed out to not be going on an adventure with us. But like he said, someone needs to stay behind and look after the house. Kooper: You think that guy will ever accomplish anything in his life. Goombario: What do you mean by that? Kooper: I mean, I've heard so many stories about how Mario saved the world dozens of times over, but not a single story about Luigi. Goombario: I mean, there was that one-time Mario went missing and Luigi had to travel the world to rescue him. Kooper: Shut your mouth right now little mister know it all, we do not speak about that. It was non-canon, it didn't happen. Goombario: Even that time Mario had a time ma... Kooper: *power shell's Goombario* Not. Canon. Goombario: *dizzy* Understood. But like, give it a few months or so. I'm sure Luigi will do something spectacular.

Goombario's Log Day 7: After entering Koopa Bros. Fortress, we fought our way through Koopas and Bob-ombs loyal to Bowser. We were making great progress, until one of the Koopa Bros. set a trap for us and we landed in a prison. Thankfully, we ran into a new friend named Bombette. She used to work for the Koopa Bros. before Bowser came in and corrupted them and forced the Bob-ombs into slavery. She was able to bust a hole in the jail cell wall allowing us and the others to escape. And now that we're free, there's nothing else that'll stand in our way of taking down the Koopa Bros. Kooper's Log Day 2: Woah. This fortress is incredible. It's so tall and intimidating with so many floors. I gotta say, even though the Koopa Bros. are our enemies, they know how to run a fortress. I mean sure, they did trick us into falling into a jail cell, but like, look at those outfits. The Koopa Bros. are so cool. Bombette's Log Day 1: The Koopa Bros. are a bunch of Ampholes! They think that they can lock me in a jail cell for demanding fair treatment is absurd! Oh, when I get out of this cage, I will give them a piece of my mind! Continued: So, um, I feel dumb. You see, Mario, THE Mario, just fell into this cell with us. And I really wanted to join him on his adventure to stop the Koopa Bros. So, I showed him my special move of blowing up cracked walls. So, I blew up a cracked wall on our jail cell, and that's when I realized I could have done that from the beginning. Oh well. I'll just let all of my pent-up anger out on those Koopa Bros. Goombario: So, looks like we're a party of four now. Kooper: Looks like it. The more the merrier, I guess. Bombette: Don't you worry a thing boys. I know how to pull my own weight around here. Kooper: Just try not to blow a fuse, okay? Bombette: Da Fuzz did you say!? Goombario: Woah, woah. Easy guys. We're all friends here, right? Bombette: I've barely known you and yet you know about my love life! Goombario: Wait, so you do have a boyfriend? Bombette: Did. Have. Now shut your mouth before I burn it shut. Kooper: Good luck. Mario: *motions for them to follow* Bombette: Looks like Mario needs us. Try to keep up boys. *runs off* Kooper: Hey! Wait up! *slides after her* Goombario: Hey! *tries to run with his stubby legs* Goombario's Log Day 8: Well, we did it. After climbing higher in Koopa Bros. Fortress and getting past all those Bullet Bill's, we fought the Koopa Bros. head on. But first, we had to knock out their Bowser replica. Could you believe they thought they were fooling us with that? I mean, I've never seen Bowser in person before, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't three-dimensional, or made of cardboard. But whatever, we took'em down no problem and saved the first star spirit. 1 down, 6 to go. Only question now is; where do we go now? Kooper's Log Day 3: Holy Shell! I can't believe we got to fight THE Bowser! I mean, not me specifically since Goombario and Bombette took care of him, but hey it's the thought that counts. And I sure was shell-shocked to see that Bowser was just the Koopa Bros. this entire time. Man, you learn something new everyday. Bombette's Log Day 2: BOOM! In Your FACE Koopa Bros! That's what you get for locking me in a cage for all eternity you sons of Bloopers! Ehem. Sorry. Got a bit excited there. But hey, now that my former bosses are stuck in jail for all eternity, I'm a free girl now. Much like that star spirit we just saved. I can't wait to see the sun again and venture off to our next destination. So long Koopa Bros. Fortress, I won't miss you. *just outside the boss door* Bombette: *psyching herself up* Ok, Bombette. It's payback time. Kooper: So, what's your plan Bombette? Bombette: Simple. I'm gonna hit'em, and then I'll hit'em again. Goombario: That sounds pretty flat if you ask me. Kooper: Dude, all we've been doing is hitting enemies over and over again until they die. Bombette: Exactly. Glad we're on the same page Kooper. Now, let's go. Kooper: Yeah! Let's get'em! Bombette: Hold your Yoshi's bud, this is my fight! *knocks him in his shell and shoots him to the other side of the castle* Goombario: Hey! What was that for!? Bombette: He'll be fine. I'm sure we can manage without him. Now, it's payback time! *blows the door open* Charrrrrrrrge!!!! Goombario: Hey! Wait for me! *runs after with his stubby legs* Mario: *who witnessed the whole thing* (shrugs) (walks in) Goombario's Log Day 9: After rescuing the first Star Spirit, we headed back to Koopa Village and helped out the old Koopa Koot with some errands. Not much to note for today other than we headed back to Toad Town, but still no clear clue on where to go next. Kooper's Log Day 4: So, Mario started running errands for Koopa Koot. I've heard stories of how this old geezer would manipulate everyone in the village to do his bidding. It's only just begun, but trust me, it only gets worse from here. Bombette's Log Day 3: For the love of Goombas, I can't believe it. My old 'boyfriend' made his way to Koopa Village and is living in Kooper's House now. Ugh. That guy needs to back the fuzz off. I am an independent woman who don't need a man in her life. I just hope he doesn't start making a racket in the village. Koopa Koot: You're a life saver Mario. Mario: Yahoo! *turns into a lifesaver* Goombario: Mario, No! Kooper: Oh yeah, baby. Bombette: Let's press on, and on, and on. Goombario's Log Day 10: Before leaving Koopa Village, we heard on the radio that there was a contest to take a Koopa Leaf to the front of Toad Town in order to win a prize. So, we rushed to Toad Town as fast as we could with nothing in our way. Except for Jr. Troopa who decided to fight us, and Twink telling us to go to Dry Dry Desert to find the next Star Spirit. And unfortunately, we were just seconds aways from getting there and had to go back to Koopa Village to try again. Thankfully we managed it and got some Maple Syrup for our trouble. After that, we went around town and talked to the residents, visited Luigi, the badge shop, and tried the dojo Master again. We failed, but we got closer this time. Oh, and I learned that Murluvlee has a twin sister! OMGoomba! I bet she's just as beautiful as well! *squeals* Eh hem. That's enough for today. Kooper's Log Day 5: Man, what is up with that Jr. Troopa? The kid's as small as they get and he's still in his egg, and yet he's some kind of menace to people whose hobbies include working out and ordering stuff by mail. Who would send stuff to this little brat anyway? Eh, whatever. He's still no match for us, even if he did waste our time with winning that radio contest. Bombette's Log Day 4: Gosh, even the Toad's here can be hopeless romantics. We met with Minh T. who runs the flower garden in Toad Town and asked us to find Bub-ulbs to plant in her garden. However, just on the other side of the garden was this creepy toad who has a crush on her, and yikes. I thought my 'boyfriend' was a hopeless romantic, but that toad took it to another level. He and that Bob-omb should NEVER meet each other. I shudder to think what their simp-etude power would become if they ever met. No thank you. Goombario: Radio contest, here we come! Kooper: We're really moving in synch guys. Bombette: Nothing can stop us now! ???: Mario, it's me. Jr. Troopa. *pops out from behind a bush* Jr. Troopa: I'm here to kick your amp! Bombette: Listen pal, I'm really sorry, but we don't have time to play with you today. So, hurry on home, okay? Jr. Troopa: What's this? Were you so frightened by my power that you wet yourself, hot head? Bombette: DID I WHAT!? You've got a lot of nerve you one-eyed monster! Mario: *shocked* Goombario: *shocked* Kooper: *shocked* Goombario: B-Bombette? You do know "one-eyed monster" usually means- Bombette: Huh? Means what!? Goombario: Um... It's ah... Kooper, why are you blushing? Kooper: *realization hits* Shut up! *bonks Goombario* *Battle Start*

Goombario's Log Day 11: We went around the southern part of Toad Town today and met up with Tayce T., the Toad Town chef. She was able to make a lot of good items for us that will no doubt help us on our adventure. We also visited the harbor and saw someone fishing. I don't really like fish myself, but hey, to each their own. Then we went into the sewers and fought gloombas and a Blooper guarding a badge. Then, just north of the train station was the Playroom and the Lil' Oinks farm. We lost our money at the Playroom and didn't see a single Lil' Oink at all. But hey, next time we should be able to head to Dry Dry Desert to find the next Star Spirit. Kooper's Log Day 6: Doo do do do do do, Doo do do do do do. Man, those sewers bring back so many memories for me. I remember when me and my friends would wonder into the sewers and mess around together. It was such a blast, that is until some jackbros came in and started hitting us from underneath and flipping us over. And then they kicked us. Man, if I could see the person that did that to me, I would give them a piece of my mind (P.S. Yes, I know those were called "Shell Creepers" in the arcade and aren't actually Koopas but just go with it okay.) Bombette's Log Day 5: Well, my life flashed before my eyes today. We made our way to the Train Station, but before heading there we decided to visit the Playroom Koopa Koot told us about. For some reason, Mario took us to the back of the Lil' Oinks farm and told me to blow up in this exact spot. I was confused as to why, but I did it anyways. And then, out of nowhere a pipe appeared from the ground and it led to the Playroom. What? Kooper: Hey, Goombario. Goombario: What is it Kooper? Kooper: How come you don't like fish? Goombario: I don't know. Just, never really liked it. Bombette: Come on, there's got to be a reason you don't like it. Goombario: Look, it's just, they're so slimy and scaly. *shivers* Just saying it gives me the creeps. Bombette: I don't know, that sounds like a pretty, Cheep-Cheep shot don't you think. Kooper: Ay! Up top! *high-fives* Bombette *elsewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom* ???: Hmm? I don't know why but I think I gonna kick a Goomba's butt someday. Goombario's Log Day 12: We got up bright and early today to head to Dry Dry Desert in search of the second Star Spirit. After Bombette opened the tracks for us, we took the train straight to the desert. Once we got there, we ran into Parakarry, the mail-koopa. He dropped some letters and we had to go find them for him. They were pretty easy though, and we got them back to him no problem. In return, Karry offered to lend us a hand in our adventure. So now we're a party of five, I wonder who we'll meet up with next? Kooper's Log Day 7: Phew, this desert heat sure is blistering. This shell sure doesn't help a lot when it comes to the heat as well. But at the very least, I'm not the only koopa suffering from the heat, as we met up with Parakarry. He'll be joining us on our adventure, but man, how can Karry handle the heat in all of those clothes? Gosh, I envy him. P.S. Apparantly, Mario is my son? Don't know what that was about. Bombette's Log Day 6: *panting* So, hot. I'm worried this heat will light my fuse if I'm out too long. At the very least, it's been fun blowing up Clefts over and over again. So hey, it's not all bad. Oh yeah. We have a new friend today, Parakarry. Another boy as well. Gosh, when are we gonna gets some more girls in this squad? Parakarry's Log Day 1: Wah-Hoo! I can't believe it! I'm going on an adventure with Mario! I know Mario won't be disappointed by my services. I know these lands like the back of my hand. Oh, and of course he's agreed to help me find my missing letters too. But let's not talk about that part. Now then, off we go! Dry Dry Outpost, here we come! *shortly after reaching the desert* Kooper: Ah, the desert. Count how many sands is here, Goombario. That's your first mission. Goombario: Ok. *Proceeds to start counting while everyone talks over him* Bombette: Why the Fuzz would you make him do that!? Kooper: It passes the time. Bombette: It's gonna take so long. Kooper! It's gonna be so annoying! Kooper: I'm curious what the biggest number is. Bombette: No! He's just going to be counting forever! Kooper: Perhaps. But it's... (Parakarry losing his mind in the background) Bombette: Kooper, what have you brought!? This is your fault! Goombario: There are only 30 million sand particles in this desert. Kooper: See, that was easy. Bombette: Fuzz. Oh my Goomba. Goombario's Log Day 13: After getting Parakarry into our team, we headed back to Toad Town to deliver Merlon his letter. It turns out that it's from Merlee, Merluvlee's twin sister. Now I finally have a name to another face of beauty! *squeals* Eh hem. Sorry. Anyway, we went back to Dry Dry Desert and did some exploring with Karry in the party. That's when we ran into a Buzzar who was looking for Mario. (If Mario answered Luigi; We thankfully managed to avoid an encounter by saying he was Luigi, and the birdbrain bought it.) (If Mario answered anything else; We had to take him, but thankfully with Mario's Shrink Stomp boots and Karry's move set, he was no problem for us at all.) Once that was done, we made it to the heart of Dry Dry Desert where we met Kolorada. Kooper seemed pretty excited to meet him I'll say that much. But now that we're here, all that's left is to comb this desert until we find the ruins. Kooper's Log Day 8: HOLY SHELL! HOLY SHELL HOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLYYYYYYY SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I FINALLY GOT TO MEET KOLORADA IN THE FLESH! He's even cooler than I imagined. He even said that when I'm done helping Mario save the world, he'll take me on an expedition! *squeals* THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIIIIIIIIIFFEE!!! Bombette's Log Day 7: So, this is the world's famous Kolorada huh? Doesn't look all that impressive as people say. Goombario even told me that the koopa's up his own amp about treasure. He rushes off on adventure at even the wince of hearing about treasure. That koopa's gonna get himself killed at some point if he doesn't get his head out of the sand. Literally. I feel for his wife man, it's a good thing I'm single. Parakarry's Log Day 2: So, my adventure with Mario officially started today. We delivered Merlon his letter in Toad Town, proceeded to beat shell out of a bird, and met up with Kolorado in the heart of the desert. I gotta say, this adventure has been fun so far. My wings have been flapping like crazy ever since I first joined. Wonder what will come next in our travels? Goombario: Alright, there. All written down for today. Time to pack it in for the night and... Bombette: HEY! Goombario: Ah! Bombette? What are you doing here? Bombette: Listen, Kooper and Karry are having an argument outside, and they've been at it for an hour now. Goombario: What are they arguing about? Bombette: The shell if I care! I just want them to shut the fuzz up! So, go out there and break up that argument, okay!? Goombario: Um sure. Okay. *walks outside the tent, sees the two arguing* Hey! What's going on here!? Kooper: Ah, Goombario. There you are. Please, settle this debate for us. You're a genius, right? Goombario: What's it about? Karry: We've been having an argument about my wings. Kooper is of course a normal Koopa Troopa. And I'm a Koopa Paratroopa. Kooper: And according to your logic, a Paratroopa is just a Koopa with wings. And if Mario or you jump on them, their wings fall off and they turn into normal Koopas, right? Goombario: I mean, that's what I've written down, so? Kooper: So you see, I'm saying that if you were to bonk Karry on the head twice, his wings will fall off. Karry: And I'm saying he's an idiot and my wings cannot be detached from my body. Kooper: Then there's only one way to solve this; Goombario, bonk him on the head. Goombario: What!? Kooper, he's our friend. I can't just hit him. Kooper: Bombette hits me all the time, what's the difference here? Bombette: The difference is that you're an amphole. Goombario, just whack Karry so they can shut up, okay? Goombario: Ok, fine. He goes. *bonks Karry on the head twice, ... nothing happens* Karry: See, my wings are still attached. Kooper: What the, but that, but you said... No. *grabs Goombario* I refuse to be proven wrong! Goombario: Wait! What are you...! *Kooper proceeds to bash Karry on the head repeatedly with Goombario to try and make his wings fall off, they don't and Karry just stands there unfazed* Bombette: *witnessing the whole thing* *scoffs* Boys.

Goombario's Log Day 14: ................................................................................................ Hey, um hi. It's Kooper here. Goombario got a severe case of heat stroke while strolling the desert with Mario since we traveled every square inch of this desert. It was pretty fun bashing up Pokey's and Bandits today. And hey, I even got powered up at the oasis. So um, yeah. That's kinda all we did today. I'm gonna just copy what I wrote here for Goombario into my journal and get him some water. Um, bye. Kooper's Log Day 9: Hey, um hi. It's Kooper here, again. Goombario got a severe case of heat stroke while strolling the desert with Mario since we traveled every square inch of this desert. I'm gonna just copy what I wrote here for Goombario into my journal and get him some water. Um, bye. Bombette's Log Day 8: Yeesh. I thought I was having a rough time in the desert, but I think Goombario's fricking lost it. It can't be too pleasant for the little guy walking through this whole desert. Thankfully I didn't have to do a whole lot today and got to ride in Mario's abnormally large pocket. It's way bigger than it seems, there's even a mini fridge in here. Maybe I should have given Goombario some water while I was relaxing in there? ... oh well. Parakarry's Log Day 3: Phew, finally. We made it to Dry Dry Outpost at last. Thankfully my wings managed to keep a nice breeze going throughout the journey, so I was right as rain. Goombario, not so much. I'm fanning him down with my wings as I'm writing this, hopefully he'll feel better by tomorrow. *while traveling the desert* Goombario: So, hot. Can't, go, on. Kooper: Keep it together now Goombario. I'll drag you along myself if I have to. Bombette: I mean, I guess that it's hot, but really? Parakarry: Honestly, I'm starting to feel a little worn out. A spot to rest would be nice right now. Kooper: Hey look, there! Goombario, look! It's water! There's an oasis! Goombario: Wa...w-wotah? Kooper: Yeah, water!!! Goombario: Wotah!!! Kooper: Come on, let's go! Goombario: Yeah! *Goombario and Kooper rush off to the oasis* Bombette: Oh come on. Talk about overreacting. Parakarry: Let's just hope it's not a mirage. *the rest of the gang walks over the the oasis*

One thing I always liked about earlier Paper Mario as a series that I'm even noticing here is that being made of paper was something that wasnt necessarily acknowledge *unless* a character is doing magic. Things act like paper somewhat, but it's simply a state of being in the same way we are made of matter. Then when it is acknowledged like the curses in TTYD or the card spells in this game, it's seen as a magical character stretching the laws of the universe. Very cool idea.

Moustafa is a play on the name Mustafa, yes. Also, his alter ego, Sheek, is a play on “Sheikh”, an Arabic title meaning “elder”. It’s also probably a reference to Zelda’s alter ego in OoT, Sheik. “Sheik” comes from “Sheikah”, which itself is most likely based on a Japanese transliteration of “seeker”, not a play on Sheikh (though it could be a bit of both).
@randomnpc4452 жыл бұрын
If I had to guess, localizers didn't realize it was supposed to be "seeker" and though Shiek's design has a bit of an Arabian flare to it, and decided to use an Arabic word as the basis for how to spell it. I can't see any other reason why they would go with such a relatively odd spelling compared to using "ee" or "ea" for the long "e" sound. I also always wondered why Sheikah Stones existed to give out hints, but knowing that they're probably supposed to be called "Seeker Stones" makes a bit more sense.
@akakay01312 жыл бұрын
@@randomnpc445 That’s possible, but I can also see them doing it to make the name look and sound more unique, rather than having it just be “Seeker”, which would clash with all the unqiue race names that came from Japanese words. Goron, for example, comes from ゴロ (goro, onomatopeia for a rumbling/rolling sound), while Kokiri comes from 子 (ko, “child”) and 木 (ki, “tree”). Korok is especially unique, as it comes from コロポックル (korpokkur), a race of tiny, hidden people that live under leaves in Ainu folklore. Just having a plain English word next to all of that feels a bit boring, especially for the race of badass shadow ninjas. Btw, in the original Japanese, Sheikah is spelled シーカー (Shīkā), and in some languages, like Russian, it’s spelled “Shiika”.

To me, there is nothing more foreboding or ominous in a game than to have the BGM just vanish as you uncover/approach/enter a plot-crucial location. The sounds of your footsteps (and other SFX like menu inputs) echoing in the sudden stillness of a previously vibrant location, often times enshrouded in darkness (like it is here with the ruins) creates a rather unique audiological ambience that truly captures your attention.

Probably not that special, but I just wanted to share I guess that I have memories associated with Dry Dry Outpost because as a kid I could not figure out the Dried Shroom/Dusty Hammer thing (I don't even think I got the idea to give a lemon to Sheek so I could get the hint, probably because I didn't even know about the oasis lol) Anyway I remember that this part of the game is how I found your channel back in the day. I was 11-12 I think which would be 2009???. Your video helped me get past that and I eventually saw the rest of the game, it was great. I'm 25 now and I've been watching your vids ever since. cool to see that you still rockin. Keep up the great work dude!

The fact cold and wet items sell in the desert has blown my mind. I never knew that! This game has 100x more hidden details than I knew about!

Moustafa is great. Thanks for the showcase of all the things to do in Dry Dry Outpost, especially the first iteration of the fantastic rhyming mage Merlee. Hmm… Aladdin’s cave of Wonders from Disney anybody? Ever since Masae said that in her Paper Mario let’s play, it is on my mind with that dramatic appearance sequence. P.S. Disney’s Aladdin turns 30 this year, which is as long as some younger fans have been alive. Happy birthday one and all.

The part where Chuggaa sang had me laughing so much. Also I loved that foreshadowing to Chapter 3.

30:40 Never really thought about that being Australian slang. When I think of local slang, it's usually how incomprehensible Waltzing Matilda is, with how much they pack into the opening verse.

I wonder how many people accidentally bought the Dried Shroom and the Dusty Hammer. I would think the number would be really low, but bumped up a little by the fact that someone surely reached Sheek, said "oh i better buy some cheap useless stuff... hmmm..." and then happened to buy those two.

The little hints at future things that really only people who know the game makes me so happy, especially since I get all of them from watching the first let's play hehe

The song they play when you meet Moustafa really captivated me when I played this as a child.

The name Merlee is always gonna make me think of Super first. Using the Ancients/Sages as characters was really that game's thing. They're mainly just useful houses in the first games.

Moustafa actually has text saying how he’s impressed if you buy those items without giving sheen a lemon

You know, I thought he was gonna have Goombario Tattle Moustafa after revealing himself to rip on Goombario even more for only tattling him as Sheek. Kinda surprised he didn't

Dry Dry Ruins is one of my favourite areas in Paper Mario. I like the (kind of) ancient Egyptian vibe of Dry Dry Ruins and it's an interesting dungeon to explore.

Imagine if as a kid you bought a Dried Shroom and Dusty Hammer in that order _by accident._

Nah you're not alone on this part. My 8 year old brain didn't process that he might be a follower of Moustafa, I figured he operated like a billboard except with more pertinent information and I thought the favorite food line was just a gag prompt. Hell I thought he was in the desert due to the sheer size of it and searched for hours and hours to no avail

I remember when I was a little kid I was blown away by the dry dry ruins appearing lol. I spent a long time looking for the stone to put the gem in so I was just relieved to have finally found it

What if somebody in this world just happened to buy a Dried Shroom and a Dusty Hammer in that order without knowing about Moustafa? Are they just in with the top dog without their consent?

Man I miss Mario games using lil mousers Tmk it's partly comes from the naming scheme being more generically and widely used in Japan, but I love how even 7-8 years later Mario kart Wii used dry dry ruins

That intro cutscene at the ruins got me SO hyped but when I got inside and saw the sunlight back through the windows my immersion was completely ruined... Still really cool but it could've been just that much better

Fun fact! If you Goombario tattle Moustafa, he mimics the Zelda reveal music since Sheek is a pretty tongue and cheek reference to Sheik, a character from Zelda Ocarina of Time

At least the whole joke of Paper Mario wasn't just "LOL a pair of scissors. Paper cut!" If they did something like that for a future game that'd be stupid... 6:14

There was talk of removing Merlee in hard mode mods because of the random luck, but people actually convinced the mod creator to put her back just shows you how powerful luck can be to people.
