yeah there are a lot of terrible changes in the remake, mostly in the dialogue. Replacing words like "crazy", "nut" and anything weight/age related with modern insults really took the 2000s feel out of the game.

It just removes the 2000s feel to the game and replaces it with generic insults. (and they made goombella into a classist jerk to those sewer goombas rather than a victim).

I also never finished TTYD when I first played it years ago, but that was because I gave up on the last chapter. Currently playing the remake and approaching chapter 8 again where I'm actually going to beat it this time. Such a masterpiece that invokes an odd feeling of nostalgia that I shouldn't really have since I didn't grow up with the game. Been looking forward to this one for so long!! I've heard about this game a few times, mostly from you, so it was really cool to be able to see it played! What a charming game with a rather great narrative. love when a story has stakes and the characters are after a goal, and then get more information and the goal ends up changing and they roll with it. It upped the stakes really well. Also, the enemy npcs being friendly in this game makes me long for a loz game like this. Imagine running into like a moblin scholar.

Choc, trust me when I say this, but the antagonists from Kirby Triple Deluxe, Kirby Planet Robobot and Kirby Star Allies have such tragic backstories. Taranza and Sectonia were once great friends before the latter got corrupted and died, Susie was sent into Another Dimension at a young age and her father lost his memory over time, not even recognising his own daughter before perishing, and the Mage-Sisters were dying until Hyness saved them, heck, Zan Partizanne was going to commit suicide before being struck by lightning!!!

Battles are annoying so i ran from most but the boss battles arent nearly as easy as super paper mario. i know there arent two many stand out characters...but the ones that are there are good. id give it a 7/10 while super paper mario would get a 8/10.

SPM has a backstory that genuinely could be the plotline of a short novel. The first ally you encounter and the final enemy you face were actually just two ordinary people. It's one of the best parts about this game. Although, the 100% experience basically requires you to get trading cards of every enemy, and complete 4 pits of 100 trials. It's an experience, sure. Also, bring plenty of healing items. You'll see (or rather, HEAR) why soon enough.
