My heart cannot take this. Seeing a remaster of a game that was so beloved to me when I was younger, and even now, is so amazingly cool. Takes me right back to when I was putting hours of my life into this game as a tyke. Seeing so much love and effort put into something I cherish so deeply really warms my heart. Honestly, every surface I can see here besides the wooden battle stage isn't glossy (which is fine). It'd be weird if the shiny grass stayed tbh, it screamed placeholder texture edit: ground in boggly tree is also sorta shiny, but I think that fits the area pretty well

I know A LOT of people wish for the downfall of "Paper Mario: The Origami King" or at least want this remake of "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door" to do better than TOK (which i do obviously understand why many feel this way) but this remake of TTYD owes plenty to TOK, with the shared engines or the artsyle being this absolutely GORGEOUS with how the paper-crafted artstyle was more refined in TOK or the wonderfully BEAUTIFUL renditions of the original OST! All i'm saying is that I wish that so many people wouldn't turn against each other or turn the games themselves against each other because these are great games(also I know many people aren't necessarily fans of TOK but even then there is a lot to respect about that game itself asides from people's personal enjoyment with it.) So all in all, with "Paper Mario: The Origami King" and eventually "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door" being official Switch games, plus having the OG "Paper Mario" playable on Switch via NSO, we have some FANTASTIC Paper Mario games on Switch... although we are only missing "Super Paper Mario".

God this game was such an iconic masterpiece growing up. I played it through so many times . Probably my favorite GameCube game apart from Metroid Prime. Absolutely cannot WAIT for glitzville HD. RAWK ON BABY!!

I'm so excited for this. Probably the best GCN era game (and I'm a huge Pokemon and Smash head). I don't expect any dlc; I think they'll treat it similarly to how they treated Mario RPG. But I really hope this sells well because I'd love a return to form for the paper plumber. Partners, badges, and Pit of 100 Trials are all amazing. Highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys turn based combat, fun and colorful set pieces, or just missed it the first time around :)

Paper Mario as a whole is truly near and dear to my heart, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is without a shadow of doubt my favorite Paper Mario game of all time. So to see it get a meticulous HD remake and presumably new content (TBA), along with a cozy release date is truly a blessed event and I will always be grateful and thankful for what seems so incredibly unprecedented coming to fruition. And as for anyone that's never played a Paper Mario game before or they're revisiting the series, this HD remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door is worth EVERY, SINGLE, PENNY. You will NOT be disappointed, and you can most definitely and indubitably count on that. Paper Mario for the N64 was one of the chosen games to be ported to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack a couple of years ago. Then TTYD gets a remake. I know this is insanely wishful thinking, but I REALLY hope this means that we'll get a new Paper Mario game in the future that is just like or at least very similar to Paper Mario and TTYD's style and not like Sticker Star and Color Splash, as much as I enjoyed those games.

Looks phenomenal and I'll be picking it up day 1, only hoping that a Switch 2 update brings this to the framerate of the original. Having a remake chop the framerate in half really is a crazy move when it's this faithful and I was holding out hope it was just something they did for the trailers.

It looks 60FPS in the footage shown though (assuming you set it to that in youtube so you can actually see it) the goombas wings were definitely moving at 60FPS. Though only thing I noticed was that there's some dips here and there.
