Aw hell nah, bro even if this has some simple sprites and simple mechanics, its incredible, it could be neat to see how could a zenith martlet fight be, but it wouldn't be neccesary to put all the sprites, i know it is like... A lot, but keep the hard work man, this is very entertaining 🤠👍

It's not even that Zenith Martlet is a lot of sprites, it's just said sprites are pretty incomprehensible. I went with Axis for 2 reasons, he's one of the only Bosses in the game that is entirely one sprite and not made up of a bunch of moving sprites, and the basic concept of reflecting a ball with a shield was something I thought could be expanded outside of the limitations of the Undertale battle system. Martlet doesn't have anything of the sort that could really be expanded upon. I also just really like Axis and Guarderner they were some of my favorites. If I ever do try to tackle another boss in the Undertale franchise it'll be someone whose sprites interact with the battle, my main candidates currently being Asriel Dreemur or Spamton Neo, but really anything from Deltarune is fair game.

So that's it! Honestly. I like it a lot! The Paper Mario dopamine is kicking in tbh and I think you handled it as well as you could for scratch! Props to you for doing this! Some day I'll stop being a wuss and actually continue learning game design..

Thanks. This project is technically a spin-off of a previous work I made involving fighting actual Paper Mario characters, I ran out of characters to use and while replaying Undertale Yellow this just sparked into my mind. I think a good way to get past the initial hurdles of creating is to just find something that inspires you and full send into it, even if nothing comes out of it. I made dozens of terrible projects before finding my footing and making something I was proud of, this project wouldn't be possible without repacking old mechanics I made years ago. Using your weaknesses as an tool also helps, for me I'm not an artist I can't actually make sprites myself but Paper Mario gives me hundreds of usable sprites for any situation, and half the fun I have with these projects is finding new creative ways to use existing material. Which speaking on all of that, it does still take an initial spark. Despite this being Paper Mario fighting an character from an Undertale fangame, Pizza Tower is what ultimately inspired the gameplay itself if that wasn't evident from the parry mechanics, as well as there being a gun.
