Very minor remark - crooked is usually pronounced in two syllables ˈkru̇-kəd (kroo-kid) in English. Same for crookedness (kroo-kid-ness)

this is really cool. I think to make it even better you should find a way to bend the corners outward where the cuts are or spawn fiber particles at the gaps in the paper. Also using real cardboard and paper textures would help realism a lot.
@PointCloud7 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yes, thats true. Maybe I'll make an advanced tutorial someday, which is more elaborated than this. The issue with textures is always the procedural UV unwrapping which has to be good on any shape imaginable. It's solvable, but the tutorial would be way longer and more dry ;D

Great tutorial, appreciate very much sharing that with us. Perhaps one thing: I realize the edges are "cut", but in my opinion they still look too perfect to be real. Any way to rough those edges up a bit, because bending paper breaks a bit at the folding edges. Hope I make myself clear. Perhaps you have an idea how to do that?
@PointCloud5 ай бұрын
Yes, you could add more geometry and have little squished paper pieces at the cut corners or move it "randomly" around that it looks like more remains from the cut. Maybe in the future I'll make a more advanced version of this.

Great tutorial! 05:26 here you could also just use the "To Radians" Conversion in the Math node, would be a little easier.

Great tutorial! Very straight forward and easy to understand/replicate. I'm trying to import this into Unreal Engine 5.3 now but sadly it seems it won't export the materials properly...Do you have some idea how to fix it?
@PointCloud5 ай бұрын
Bake Texture first in Cycles and the export with texture. But it won't be procedural then.
@DarkLanceIot5 ай бұрын
@@PointCloud No matter what I do, the bake comes out as one material only. Either Suzanne is wholly covered in the "Paper_Outisde" Material, if I put it in the Top Slot of the Extrude Mesh Node as shown in the video or she is fully covered in the "Paper_Inside" Material, if I switch those two. Both times those little cut in creases get wiped entirely in the normal bake. I think the Side - out path of the Extrude Mesh Node at the end get's completely ignored and I can't figure out why. Any help on the matter would be highly appreciated! ✌
@PointCloud5 ай бұрын
@@DarkLanceIot You have to apply the geometry nodes modifier first, because then you have the real geometry of that effect. You have to bake then the inside and outside seperately. Then you should have everything correct.
@DarkLanceIot5 ай бұрын
@@PointCloud I've been applying the geometry nodes modifier every single time before each bake process but no matter what I do, it seems the "Paper Inside" Material doesn't have any normal/bump information whatsoever and never shows on any map. Not even as different color on the diffuse map. Could you try to bake it yourself and see if it works for you perhaps? I'm really not sure if I've been doing something wrong the entire time or maybe the geometry nodes tree is not giving out the correct information. It is such a cool shader, that I really wanna see/import into the Unreal Engine.
@tapejuice27499 ай бұрын
This is amazing, how could I export the generated textures to other software such as unity?
@PointCloud9 ай бұрын
You have to bake them first on the UVs as an image and then save that.
@meganekkoato73048 ай бұрын
Hello! Is there a good way to make variations of the materials so they can be linked to different objects within a scene? I want to change the paper color on objects that I've already modeled
@PointCloud8 ай бұрын
Sure, just make a copy of that modifier and link a different material in the "Set material" nodes.

Hello. Excellent video. How can I copy the geometry of nodes in another object of the same file and even in another blender file?
@PointCloud Жыл бұрын
You can copy geometry nodes just like every other modifier. Select multiple objects with the Geometry Nodes object as active, then click on the little arrow in the modifier window -> copy to selected.
