ALAN CHARLES LANCASTER otherwise known as NUFF, has passed away in Sydney, his home for 45 years. The founding member and the backbone of STATUS QUO had been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for many years. Alan battled on bravely, performing at QUO's Reunion gigs in 2013 and 2014. Even though he had MS, Alan's performance and his vocals were the strongest of the three. My favourite member of QUO is Alan Lancaster. I had the pleasure of having a beer and a smoke with Alan at a Sydney pub gig, in Five Dock, when he had The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster/Brewster Bands in the late 80's. We had a longer chat at The Lewisham Hotel as well. These were dirty, grungy hotels, though this didn't phase the great man of the people. Alan was the most beautifil man, very humble, down to earth and a great guy to talk with and have a laugh. Vale Alan ( Nuff ) Lancaster RIP mate, you were one of the greatest Rockers of all time.

However, regarding the different 'tone' from their Guitars and amps, I'm surprised that Rick didn't point out to Rossi that it sounded very different. "No, don't rock the boat Rick, just go along with Alien Rossi." " Parfitt, if you wanna stay in 'my' band you'll keep your mouth shut, awright? " " I can do this on my own, I don't need Coghlan and Lancaster or you, for that matter!! " " I'm a power ( coke snortin' ) control freak, I'm gonna destroy the Greatest Rock band of all time!!! " What's with the white socks anyway, Alien Rossi wears white socks with all his clothes. I personally still dress like a 19 year old Rocker, T-shirt, blue denim jeans, trainers or boots. " and now for something completely different, a man with 3 buttocks " DON'T PANIC! 6 times 9 = 42 Douglas Adams is playing Chess with Rick Parfitt in Heaven right now...............

Later on i talked to guys who saw them live on stage in the early/mid 1970ies. We all totally freaked out - they told me. Those were the days. I was totally freaking out as a young boy after i got in contact with them by the release of the "Whatever you want" album back in 1979. Couldn' get enough "from the makers of....."! Well cut video! But remember: The Song is from the album and the Video is from a live-gig! No in-ear-click like today, you can see how tigth they could play live...

Riding on a big white butterfly I turned my back away towards the sky I closed my eyes to look for something Saw myself as really nothing Then I realized my butterfly Wasn't really up there with me We all make mistakes, forgive me Would you like to ride my butterfly? Riding on a long blue paper plane Getting seasick, sorry once again Landing strip is getting nearer Hope the fog lifts, makes it clearer Then I realized my paper plane Wasn't really up there with me We all make mistakes, forgive me Would you like to ride my paper plane? Riding in a three grand Deutsche car A to B is often very far Home is near, but such a long way Legs and heads all feel the wrong way Then I realized my Deutsche car Is only there to get me somewhere Even so I really do care Would you like to ride my Deutsche car?

Although I think Blue for you was good and that was the album that I got to see them, for me On the Level was their peak. Brilliant album.

I met John Coghlan once. We were on the same bill propping up the bar. Solid drummer and nice geezer.
