First off, I am so happy to hear that you and your husband are doing much better after your illness. I'm sorry you had to endure such a difficult time. Moving forward- It's so funny that you posted a tutorial. Yesterday the weather made great for a cozy crafting day and for me to break in our new crafting room. I attempted to make the mini pumpkin luminaries and as I was following your instructions I kept thinking how I wish there was a YT tutorial. I was successful with your detailed, step by step instructions and ended the day off very proud since that was my first Cricut project that I did not follow a visual. Then, I woke up to your email notifying me of your new YT channel and how-to videos. Thank you for taking the time to show us how it's done. I can still appreciate your tips/tricks and seeing how things are done differently in a way I would have never thought of on my own. I am working on the mini pumpkin luminaries for table plate settings. Much to my surprise they are coming out so cute, dainty and have a vintage look to them. I'm proud of my mini pumpkin lanterns; they will bring warmth and joy for a festive October birthday dinner this coming weekend. Thank you for sharing your creativity. I am so excited!

I bought a SVG file on line and have struggled trying to make. Just didn't make sense to me how to put it together and make it come out in a pumpkin shape. This is so great! Thank you for this tutorial! I'm going to make it as soon as I get a stylus for my Explore Air 2 machine. I have a question, though... does the glue stick dry tacky? I'm guessing not. But I bet you could also use a Xyron machine to add adhesive to the panels to stick to the vellum. Also, I discovered little tiny clips that are made for sewing (to use instead of pins, I think). But they are perfect for crafting. You could use these for this project... to hold things together until they dry. Just thought I'd mention them, since they were new to me... and very helpful with lots of paper projects.

Hi Julie. Thank you for your thoughtful and helpful comment. I'm so glad you like the paper pumpkins. They are one of my favorite projects to make in the fall. I've tried several different adhesives for the vellum panels. The best option was paper cement. Most people didn't like the way it smelled and didn't want to purchase an extra supply. The Xyron machine, while I enjoy it for other uses, doesn't work great for this craft. It leaves spider web-looking adhesive strings on the vine panels. That's why I landed on the glue stick. It dries a bit shiny, but not sticky. Honestly, I'm pretty detailed and I was happy with the glue stick outcome. I will look into the clips...thank you for the suggestion. The quick-drying tacky glue that is on the supply list, works great to hold the structure of the pumpkin together. If you apply just a little pressure with your fingers for a moment, it sets up pretty fast so you can move on to other sections. Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions.

I did find some in my daughter's school supplies, so I will use those. You're right... the Xyron does leave those spider web things. Plus, it creates a lot more waste. So I'll try the glue stick! The little clips are just called "Sewing clips" on Amazon. I use them for a lot of paper projects. The only drawback is they sometimes leave little indentations in the paper. Anyway, I'll report back. My stylus is supposed to arrive today! I just got my Cricut a few weeks ago, but I'd bookmarked this project long before I bought it, so I'm excited to give it a try!

I have the file and made the pumpkins but the leaves are different from the video. I like the video leaves much better. Is there a different file for those?

Hi Heather. Thank you for reaching out. The leaf on the top of the pumpkin is different now. I have updated the files to make them better and designed several new patterns. There are also updated video tutorials that I will be adding in the description of this video, so you can find them. It is a slight change, but overall the pumpkin is the same.

These pumpkins are so elegent. Can I ask, did you use vellum paper or card stock? When I went to Amazon they had both so I am not sure what to purchase. Can you share what you have and where you purchased it?

Good question! I used both card-stock and vellum. The 12 vine panels are cut from card-stock and then I attached the vellum behind them. The vellum is semi-transparent and slightly white in color, so the light can come through but it prevents you from seeing directly into the pumpkin. The Paper Studio at Hobby Lobby is a good brand of vellum. It comes in 8.5 X 11 size. I have purchased these items both on Amazon and my local craft store. The most important part is to purchase 65 lb. (thickness) card-stock and white semi-transparent vellum. Hopefully this helps!

@@michaelokeefe4528 It's not thick like the 65 lb. card-stock. I would say it's more of a paper weight, but a thicker paper. I've purchase three different brands of vellum and non of them have the GSM on the packaging. The pumpkin isn't fully supported by the vellum, it just helps a bit. The vellum is more to soften the glow of the LED candles.

I’ve done this twice and all my score lines disappeared when I went to cut. The brown stem, circles and leaf disappeared after I scored them.

I am gonna attempt this with scissors by hand so I may need to change the design on the side pieces to something more simple and less scrolly bcz I have arthritis. Wish me luck!

Hi Victoria. Best wishes on the project. If I were going to cut these by hand, I would cut the entire center out of the panels and leave it blank...no leaves/vine. Then I would put patterned paper in the window opening. The LED light won't show through the pattern, but it will still show through the slits between the pumpkin panels. This will be a lot less work for you.
