I followed this tutorial, but there doesn't seem to be any change to my shape. When I pull up the filter layer, I see the texture applied, but not in my normal artboard window. Any suggestions?

Making the texture background white and then using the multiply blend mode should do the trick

hey I've made a logo on illustrator and I would love to give it this paper texture, I copy and pasted it on a seperate layer between the paper textures (the way you did with the text) but it didn't work :( I was just wondering if u knew a way to do this? thanks!

Totally will, look for filter gallery, it might be greyed out if you’re not in RGB color mode.

if i add filter gallery, previous color overlay effect disappears. i guess its because i converted to a new object blah blah when i clicked filter gallery, but there's no way without clicking it. How can i fix this?

You’ve got to convert to a new smart object before you apply the color overlay and filter gallery
