Oh, my. The icicles bring back so many memories of putting them on our tree every year as a kid in the 60's. So fun! That dress looks like my late mother in laws wedding dress with the buttons and satin. I wore it at my wedding in 1984, she was married around 1948 or so.

Your excitement is palpable! Watching you unbox, it is almost as if the "layers" of what you are discovering represent each stage of her/their adult lives as they moved up in financial stability/wealth, moved houses, etc.. Saving the favorite cups from when they moved rather than throwing them away, the addition of new lights for the tree and house each year, and so on. So fun to watch!

Oh, Renee, I just love watching you. You are an old soul. A tender, old soul. It is such a pleasure to watch you discover the things you appreciate and love to collect. I started to cry when you started to cry. So much amazing vintage Christmas in there!! Some of which appeared to be unused, or methodically returned to its packaging with loving care. I too have never seen that small aluminum tree with the red balls and candles - I hope you are able to follow up with more info on that piece and it’s value. I’m so happy for you to be literally “living the dream”, as Taco Stacks says. 😉 Enjoy what you are doing and keep being you. ❤️

Wonderful finds. Yes, I felt the same way looking at the boxes of art work. My dad was an advertising artist. Not only that, but the boxes, bulbs, lights & tinsel bring back the same emotions of surprise and love of the memories our family made decorating the tree. We also made sure the tinsel was put back neatly in the box for next year and the string of lights was positioned correctly in their box so the lid could be closed.

I'll be sad when your treasure hunt comes to an end in these houses but I will cherish them and watch more than one, I'm sure. Wow! Good for you! The Shiny Brite Cluster … a true vintage find! We actually found one (in pink and red) - after-Christmas clearance (!) at a local thrift store for $1.00 a few years ago!!! We had never seen one like it. We had no room for it as we live very “tiny” so we sold it on eBay for $120! Packing it to ship it was a challenge ….but it arrived safe and sound across the country! We never seen another Cluster until now! They are quite rare! Enjoy all your finds! Kathleen

Loved loved this episode! I collect vintage Christmas too. That Christmas chandelier gave me goose bumps. I’ve never seen one before. I’ve been collecting things that were popular when I was a kid. I’m vintage too. I loved the handmade sequin ornaments, then I thought they were tacky and now I’m collecting them. They reflect the light and I like sparkle. I hated aluminum trees when I was a kid. They were minimally decorated. All blue, all red or all silver which looked nice with the rotating color wheel. We used one last year and it was fun. I used some of the plastic ornaments that were popular in the 50’s and 60’s. Again tacky several years ago and fun now. Only problem now is that my house is too small!

Wow so many great vintage Christmas decorations. That MiroStar tree at the end is much more kitch than most of the other things. Made in Paterson NJ. I believe the metallic fishnet material was a waste product from stamping out sequins or something. I’m loving this series of videos.

Great finds Renee! I knew the last one was a Mirostar tree box when you showed it in the first video! I've been dying to know if it was still in the box. It was! Mirostar is known for the gaudy over the top adornments to their Christmas lighting fixtures. They made many different styles/sizes over the years. They tend to bring good money especially in good condition. As long as the wires aren't frayed, brittle, or cracked they should be fine to use. BUT, use a table top dimmer switch cord with all vintage lighting. When you dim them they don't get as hot and will be much safer as well as the bulbs will last longer. I bought mine on Amazon. Great find!!!!
@samanthab19232 жыл бұрын
Great idea with the lights. My Dad was a great lover of Christmas. Continued to buy new lights & decorations every year. Was on vacation with my mom in Bermuda & bought Lladro nativity set! But they weren’t all winners. There was a particularly tacky set of poinsettia lights.

Wow! You and I were just talking about my grandparents' aluminum tabletop tree. When you opened that first tree box and I saw the branches in those brown paper sleeves, it came flooding back. I suggest if you keep one, you keep one like that. My grandma and grandpa had theirs on a small round table in the living room...over by the TV. I would set up the tree and then put their little paper village and people below. The name escapes me now, but you found some houses just like them a few videos ago. Great video...next, please!
