Something I read recently that floored me is Stephen Chbosky’s Imaginary Friend. I have some problems with it toward the end, but I think it’s a nice homage to classic SK/good story on its own and a solid four stars from me.

OH MY GODDDD PENPAL YES. Adding on that the book is extra awesome because if you read the original story on Reddit, you only got the first version essentially. He fleshed out more details and added added a bit more meat to the book, I'm guessing to help it flow better as a novel as opposed to the /r/nosleep format
