Please note that when we mentioned Chromatic Aberration in this video, we should of *emphasized how minor it actually is* . While it is there, the amount present in this lens is SO minor that I would dare say *it would not hinder your shooting at all* . Especially if you primarily use this lens for filming and not stills. You can easily use this lens for professional shoots and we have many times.

The reason you have softness and chromatic aberration on the Rokinon is because you are using the MFT version. Its meant to be a full frame lens and the MFT version is still full frame just with an MFT mount. If you want extreme sharpness and remove the chromatic aberration; Get the Rikinon cine DS canon EF version; THEN GET a focal reducer like Metabones, Comlite, or Viltrox(.71 or 62 are fine). If you want BEST of both worlds; Get everything I just said and then get the MFT to canon EF mount; you can still have the softness and chromatic aberration. I see no advantage at this point by getting riknone cine DS MFT version. none what so ever

Love the fact you cut straight to what most of us want...how it works in your workflow! Exactly: go to their site for specs. Listen to artists for how they work. Amazingly they sell a fantastic kit of 4 primes that costs less than a Canon L lens (which I and millions love). About £1500!!!!!!!

@@movinginthesestreetswithou9670 hello! I love the 85mm but don't have the 35mm. Based off my experiences with the 85mm, I wish I had both and want to buy the 35mm one day :) I have other lenses that cover that focal length for now, which is why I got the 85mm first, but I favor the image of the rokinon over my other lenses for video. If I were to choose only one with no other lenses the 35mm is a more flexible focal range but I love the 85mm. The images are gorgeous on these lenses, and there's just something about how they capture video that's really nice.

I use this lens on a full frame camera generally for landscape still photography. The best attribute in my opinion is the consistent across the frame sharpness, in that respect it bests most of the competition. Also on the full frame sensor the chromatic aberration is minimal even wide open. Stopped down the CA is virtually non existent. This lens with a circular polarizer now several years old is still my go to lens for landscape photography. Using an adapter its been in use with three camera bodies and still going strong. Thank you for the review.

Thank you for the review, what focal length are you getting with the micro 4 thirds is it 35mm or more? I want to get the sony full frame version for full frame camera. do you think 35mm would be to wide for an all round video lens on a full frame camera?
@PaperKrane
@PaperKrane 4 жыл бұрын
KLIQUE EJECT so with the MFT sensor, the focal length is about 70mm to a full frame sensor. If you want to use for more portrait type shots than I would look at their 50mm or even 85mm full frame lenses. I have the 85mm (MFT of course) and the build is equally as sound and the clarity is absolutely beautiful. But yes, the 35mm full frame might be a bit too wide.

Helmut Danninger it actually isn’t that difficult to balance it on the ronin s but focusing is a bit annoying since the lens is only manual and the ronin s focusing system is digital so you can’t use them together for focusing. Apart from that though the lens is incredible and I thoroughly recommend it.

@@DiegoKatzakian Can't believe I missed this comment. As hopefully you found, balancing isn't too bad on the Ronin S (little finicky but not bad). Focusing is the problem but I have played around with DJI's Focus and that made the pairing of the Rokinon lenses with the Ronin S 10x more powerful.

Totally! The Cine-DS Lens focus / aperture ring are at a standard distance apart allowing you to switch lenses with a follow focus rig easier. @Spartyo
@Spartyo 5 жыл бұрын
Crop factor doesn't come from the lens, it comes from the size of the sensor in the camera body. Formula: Crop Factor * Focal Length = FF Equivalent Length. In this case, with the GH5 on a adapter, you will have an additional factor: The Focal Reducer factor of the speedbooster. So we get our final computation like so: 2.0 (GH5 crop factor) * .71(Focal Reducer/Speedbooster) * 35mm(Focal Length = 49.7mm Full Frame equivalent on the GH5. If you have a .64x speedbooster, you get 2.0 * .64 * 35mm = 44.8mm FF Equivalent.

My Flying Eyes * well to many they would recommend getting the ‘full frame’ version of this lens with an adapter to get a little more control over the depth of field. You said you do everything handheld. How do you do video handheld and manage to pull focus on this without any follow focus system?
@PaperKrane
@PaperKrane 4 жыл бұрын
Ravikant Rai honestly I don’t find it that difficult. I have focus peaking on and have my right hand on the shutter button with the palm of my left hand supporting the body of the camera and use my left thumb and ring finger to pull focus. Works fine for me :)

@@PaperKrane Great! It's just that to me longer throws seem like a pain with just two fingers, you can only twist so much. And these lenses have more than 250 degrees of rotation of focus ring. I have a Tilta Nucleus N follow focus system but now, the challenge I want to accomplish is to learn to manual-focus with a 50mm focal length and on a moving subject.

You say something about a purplish pink color, what if you film in v-log, can you color correct that?
@PaperKrane
@PaperKrane 5 жыл бұрын
I am sure you could, but the amount that is preset really wouldn't be worth it (in my opinion of course) as it is pretty minor. Also, I am assuming you're referring to chromatic aberration.

Hello thanks for this review! Do you think it's there any difference with the EF mount version using it with a regular adapter on the GH5?
@PaperKrane
@PaperKrane 4 жыл бұрын
Bill Politis it actually could be even more beneficial depending on which adapter. With some adapters you can actually pull in more light so the T1.5 would actually turn into something like T1.2. I have heard of MANY people getting the EF version with a metabones adapter and looooove the extra control and shallow depth of field you can get with it.
@billpolitis2831
@billpolitis2831 4 жыл бұрын
@@PaperKrane Yes i know, i'm just asking about the open wide aperture if it has the same focusing sense and the infinity focus also, maybe the build in adapter of the mFT mount is more accurate?!?
@PaperKrane
@PaperKrane 4 жыл бұрын
Bill Politis I see. I can’t say for sure. From what I have seen, it doesn’t change all that much with the adapter but again I can’t say for sure as I use the native mft mount. I wish I could help more there I just haven’t tested it for myself so I would feel bad giving information I’m not positive on.

@@SaiKelly Yep, we have the MFT version. Personally don't see a need for the adapter on these but some would most likely argue that the FF is superior with the speed booster. I am just all about keeping things simple though.

Would you say that Cine lenses (especially this one) are okay to use for photography?
@PaperKrane
@PaperKrane 5 жыл бұрын
You know, it depends on the style of photography. As we mentioned in here, we us it and get some crystal clear results but it is manual making quick shots for sports and action photography impossible. So it yields some awesome results but I would say I wouldn't buy this specifically for photography.

Actually, we don't use an adapter to connect the lens to the GH5. While you can get a full frame version of this lens and use an adapter like the 'Metabones Speed Booster' to get a few extra stops, we chose to get the MFT version of this lens.

Hey man, just wanted to add. People often say that actually buying new CAMERAS is a bad investment as compared to buying new LENSES (glass). Because a high quality set of lenses will bring up every camera's quality, even after your first camera is loooong gone. That's why I'm okay with buying these expensive lenses; they'll be waiting for me even when I move on from my little GX85 to the Black Magic Pocket 4K, for example!
