You definitely can, but it will be very different in behavior and texture because of the lignan.

Could you make a video on how you make the papers into a functioning journal??

I notice there were several where they were like "well I definitely didn't do it well enough" and then show perfectly good paper? Like a lot of your critiques I couldn't even tell until you pointed them out (so, it takes a trained eye) and some others were, as you said, kind of an aesthetic. It sucks that people are beating themselves up about not being as good *on their first shot* at making paper as a skilled paper maker who's obviously been doing it for a while, but I'm really glad you're here to offer them encouragement and constructive criticism!

Hi! I've been wanting to dive into paper making for a while. I have some old papers and notebooks from college that I don't need but for some reason didn't throw away with the rest of college stuff. And I'm exploring a bit of gouache painting and think it might look really cool on recycled paper. So I've watched some videos and I just love your videos and how simple your process is compared to some. I think it will work perfectly for me. Can't wait to try.

I've heard of adding cornstarch to the pulp. Allegedly help the paper take ink better. Thoughts?

Hi! Can you tell me how do you add cornstarch? I've thought to add some but not sure how, do you just dissolve it into your pulp, add it cooked, another way??

My Nan kept an entire massive bag (bigger than a backpack) of Princess Diana articles. Not kidding, sometimes the entire newspaper. She was obsessed. I’m definitely going to be using that and turning it into a mini journal as a gift for mine and my girlfriend’s anniversary (and probably 5 full sized books). I might have to add like… 3% hydrogen peroxide if that’s possible. Just to bleach it, the articles are… *very* old but not old enough to sell (plus tattered and all that) like 1980’s-2000’s She was… a good person I think? The kind of person I’d wanna be friends with but man she shouldn’t have had children or raised grandchildren.

@@syerenarr4847If you have paintbrushes or paper or anything with ink or whatever in water for a while, even two days, I noticed it does tend to. Smells like fox dung (I live in an area with a lot of foxes and trust me, the rivers stink)

Oh! And can you also show us how to dye the pulp? You mentioned briefly how to make it with coffee. I wonder if it's also possible with some paint, but I only have gouache and watercolors and they are water soluble and I'm afraid that they will rather stay on the water than on the paper. And I also don't know if acrylics would work, I think they might but I'd buy some cheaper ones just for dying the paper so I'm still wondering.

Hi Lisa, thank you so much for teaching us how to make paper, after a few successful tries I had the idea to turn lemon into lemonade. I think you live in the Netherlands and are familiar with the dreaded blue envelopes, it almost always means you have to pay…. So I collected a few of them, turning them into pulp was a real satisfaction 😂 I added some book pages to get a lighter shade, but some of the blue came off when it was soaked, still, it is really a recognizable blue. So now when I get blue envelopes in the mail I’m still not happy, but there’s a little part of me that is… 😂 I’ll share the result on Instagram

You mentioned you can use paper pulp as clay, and that reminded me of paper mache as a kid where we would use that wallpaper glue powder. Do you think it would help to get a more sturdy result if you add a little wall paper glue powder?

20:53 I wonder if you don't have a blender but have a hand mixer if you could use it here with the whisks like you would for making cookie dough, if that would provide enough agitation to thin out the fibers...
