lovely video. To the editor: is there anyway to include which VOD or day the gameplay in the videos are from? i don't watch on Twitch all that often, but sometimes i want to see the raw VOD.

I do find it funny that both this and Papers, Please try to say something about borders and border control but can only do it when critiquing the "other" of the Soviet Union, as if American and Western borders generally aren't corrupt security theater.
@badwulff9 ай бұрын
I don't know what kind of point this is supposed to make. Papers, Please was designed to be a simulator about trying to juggle any shred of possible human decency with basic means of survival for one's family, while increasingly incomprehensible lists of meaningless bureaucratic rules pile on amidst the worsening repression of a corrupt, xenophobic administration. This is exactly what it accomplishes, no more and no less. While Soviet border control is a prime target for this given the notorious history of Soviet-style bureaucracy, and it does poke fun at it, the game at no point implies it is the _only_ target, nor that "American and Western borders" are immune to criticism. It never "sizes up" the Soviet system against the others, nor is it trying to make any sort of commentary about geopolitical comparisons of "border control quality", because that wasn't the goal. So I'm not exactly sure why you're implying it's somehow avoiding a discussion about Western border control that it shouldn't have avoided, since that wasn't really what it was going for. That said, it is interesting that you've sensed a real gap in the market when it comes to video games critiquing the American border system, yet instead of trying to make a quality product about it, you're wasting your time complaining that an unrelated game about a different topic isn't saying what you want it to say.
@DesolatedChild01825 күн бұрын
In the OG Game (Papers, Please) the “Border Control” is basically a display of kafkaesque arbitrary bureaucracy: All the nations are basically the same, there’s no ethnic or racial elements, you deny passage over the most insanely arbitrary of things in the hope that your family doesn’t die. It’s crazy to leave life decisions to “Passaporte Expired” / “wrong print on number”, etc. In the States a game about of border would be impossible no to touch on race / ethnicity. It’s literally the only thing that “strong border control” regarding immigration is about at this point. America would have made a fascinating game boring with their one note reality. Even their distopia is boring.

Is there no option to accept bribes? It was just alcohol comrade, no reason we can't all prosper.
@kurokasteele48308 ай бұрын
IIRC you can accept bribes- and I think you can even pocket the money and then arrest them. No consequences either, because after all who would trust a convict when they say the border control agent took a bribe-
