I'm literally in the process of making my own selkie dress inspired by yours (but in a dark green) and making patterns for it now!! Like yours it's also going to be midi length and hit my waistline instead of my bust so have followed your video pretty closely because I started sewing only like a year ago or so! I'm making a few adjustments (like the bodice is going to be a square neck with wide shoulder straps that I'll attach the puff sleeves to so I won't hopefully need bias tape) but videos like this are so so helpful because patterns are so unintuitive to me! Thanks so much!

I always make everything too big 😓 in my defence fabric looks TINY when not on a human
@naomigwolfe81123 жыл бұрын
It's okay! Iys better to have too much fabric that too little (like me ^^') when that happens just put it on, pin it together at the seams (maybe a few inches in) so it would fit nice, then mark with a chalk where the new seam will be. Take it off, then inside out, sew at the mark, and make sure the connecting seams (new and existing) are tough and sewn correctly. Then cut off the excess fabric with a 1/8-1/16 inch seam allowance. And re-inside out! Then it should fit perfect! C: Hope this helps, have a blessed weekend!

Hello, I have a question (hopefully I'm not too late lol). So say that your waist is 25'' and mine is 27'' (and like every measurement of mine is 2 inches larger than yours), if you cut out dimensions for a bodice of a dress or something like that, would it make sense to just add two inches when i'm making mine? (so if the width of one of your pieces is 11'', could I make mine 13'')
@PaperStxrs3 жыл бұрын
It really depends where the extra 2” should go for you, but I would try adding 2” to the back pieces and see if that fit works for you! You could also just try making all my pieces just sliiightly wider which might work well! A lot of sewing is just trial and error☺️
