One interesting detail on the Rebor: some paleontologists believe that the Acro's spine supports a hump rather than a fin. Rebor apparently decided to address both and make their acro with a fin that widens considerably as it gets closer to the spine.

I just received my Rebor Acro in the mail 3 days ago. Love its paint scheme better than the Papo's, also the head looks nicer and the skull shape is proper. The Rebor is a little bigger. Only complaint I have is that its feet are a little too big, but, apparently, that's to help it stand with greater stability.

Have you considered that, from a design choice, they made the feet bigger so that the Rebor figure could stand more upright than the Papo version? A toy doesn't have to be boringly accurate to be good. From a designer's point of view, it needs to be sculpted, painted and stand well to be good.

Yes I had considered that, and I understand that while a perfectly accurate model would stand in real life, plastic has no muscles or differences in density that balance it. But, I think it is possible to at least make the toes thinner and flatter, as it would not affect the overall surface area of the feet that balace it. I guess, and like you hint at, its the sculptors choice. Note: I also think that making models more accurate being boring is a myth, as a lot of interesting and cool features of the real animals are not portrayed.

I suppose, but I still think that would be a problem, given the size and weight of the upper body of the sculpt. Still, you have a point. About the boringly accurate statement, maybe I've written it wrong. The thing is, I've seen a lot of Paleo fans get so nitpicky on some of these models for not being accurate. I understand that and I too want to see a more accurate representation of Dinos, but what I don't want is to see a "boring" representation. I've heard Paleo fans (don't know what the term for them is) say that they want the feathers to be more duller and grey/white. Umm... last time I checked, birds practically had all the colours of the friggin spectrum. You have pink flamingos, red and blue parakeets, greenish blue peacocks the list goes on. So what's not to say that dinos could be colourful. What I'm trying to say is that, if we should have Dinosaurs be portrayed more realistically like modern day birds, then should we not logically give them similar colours as modern day birds.

Cathal Carson Thats all fair enough. One minor gripe I have with that is its only fair to make the comparison with modern bird feathers and non avian dinosaur feathers if the compared birds are flightless, or have an otherwise similar niche. Notice birds that cannot fly to escape danger are often more drap colours. Not that I think this makes dinosaurs look any less handsome, I think it is less about the actual colour and more about how the other colours compliment it, the patterns its arranged in etc.

Your right about flightless birds have more drab colours. Even then, it's not about how cool, handsome or badass a dino looks, it matters about how you can compare modern birds to dinos. Although, you gotta consider that, maybe in prehistory, things were different back then and animals behaved not only differently but looked differently. Maybe some of them did have colourful feathers, but not for the same purpose as modern-day birds. It's like comparing the style of clothing and mannerism of the victorian era to the style of clothing and mannerism of modern day. The point I'm trying to say is, even though they are flightless, they are much bigger. So who's not to say that the Trex could've have exaggerated colours to attract a mate or scare of hostile intruders. Since they're bigger, they have less of a worry with other predators. For smaller therapods, yes I'd imagine them to be more drab, but the bigger the flashier (again, not implying that it makes them more cooler or badass. It just makes more sense, at least for me anyways).

The Papo figure has a much more accurate head sculpt. (look at Acro skull pictures) and more realistic body proportions. (especially the feet and sail) and a more realistic skin texture that shows off subtle detail much better. Rebor figures in general still have standing issues due to warped legs. what i do like about the Rebor figure is that it appears to have a longer tail. and its paint job.

I've got the repainted version from Papo and I really love it. The only thing that really bothers me (a LOT) is that the fingers of the right hand are warped due to the handpositioning. Why make it that low in the first place? Like, yes it looks cool roaring, but its f*cking fingers are bent! Haven't got the Rebor one, but it seems to be much less detailed. The paintjob looks like one collecta would do and I honestly expect more for that price. I could be tricked by the missing detail in the scales though, maybe that's why the paintjob looks so "dirty"

Rebor. No contest. Looks much realistic and much more accurate (besides the feet) and beastly in comparison. The Papo one looks like a Child's toy with much more detail imo, but not in a bad way.

I have the hardest time making my Rebor Acrocanthosaurus stand. It's back foot is so much higher that it tumbles down every time it's set up.

the length of the skull is certainly more accurate in the rebor model, but on the other hand rebor's figure has a very short torso: the distance between the arm and the leg is a terrible flaw if you ask me. specially when it's combined with those clown feet; papo's acro is more accurate in body proportions.

I love accuracy in dino figures but I like to buy just the ones that are super detailed and realistic/livelike i really don't care as long as it doesn't look like a toy

I like m both. Even though Papo is still the more affortable one, Rebor isn't even all that expensive for what they deliver. But it's nice to know that they actually match up in size :D

Night Yoshi I like them both for different reasons. I think Rebors looks more cinematic, like its a real animal. Papos feels a little more stylised than reality, but has nice detail. I like them together, two great designs

Papo makes unbelievably detailed dinosaur figures at very affordable prices; you can nit pick all you like, but most dinosaur figures have some inaccuracies, including the wallet busting brands which I will not mention here. Papo, in my opinion is the go to company for highly detailed dinosaur figures at very reasonable prices. If detail is important to you but you don't have a huge bankroll these figures cannot be matched, and their detail ranks up there with the most expensive brands, so why look any further? These are absolutely amazing replicas.

For me, the Papo Acro wins. While I prefer Rebors paint scheme, I feel Papo's version has a more striking pose, more accurate proportions and, overall, is more scientifically accurate. I also feel there's a lot more finer details in the Papo's Acro sculpt than the Rebor one.
