We’ve already had 108, 107, and forecast of at least seven more days of over 100° out here in West Central Texas. It’s pretty brutal, but I’m not gonna quit praying for the good Lord to send us a big old rain and some cooler weather!

No I don't trust any produce imported to the USA except the greenhouse grown tomatoes from Canada. I grow my own vegetables with no pesticides or commercial fertilizer at all. I admire anyone who can grow their own food and they have something to eat because it is a true talent which helps people survive. Please get well soon Greg and I'm happy you're feeling better Jill. Take good care

Me too. I've planted Blue Lake a couple times and haven't really had much. I keep thinking it's been insect damage, but it's comforting to hear you talk about them too. Prayers for Greg! No weapon form against him shall proper in JN!

Praying for y'all. ❤ I'm glad you addressed the blue lake bush beans. Last year , we planted pole beans and I kid you not it took over like kudzu, we had beans out the wazoo. This year due to rotation we planted bush bean's, they are green, a few blooms, and we've gotten 8 bean's. We have been wondering if it was just us until yesterday I heard another person say their bean's did the same , worst year ever., With us, it's end of season . We're moving into brassicas, carrots , etc so all our bean's were a total loss. . Our Virginia summer here was rough, it got hot faster than normal, no rain , it was like rain would keep going around us. Other counties got rain and we stayed dry. The past few seasons have been bad and I'm hoping next year will be better. We are preparing for fall planting now and that will carry into winter for us until a artic blast comes through. It's great seeing you

Yes it is finally getting hot hot.....105 today north of Georgetown. My garden is done for this year. Our water bill on a monthly basis last year was over $500 a month, this year we were lazy getting our sprinkler system put up on our garden. I have plenty peppers in my freezer and canned tomatoes and tomatoe sauce canned from this year. We are focusing on building on our 10 acres in Florence now also so garden is gone by the way side. My herbs and strawberries are still growing though. Can't wait to get our garden set up on the 10 acres. Our artchitect is putting our barn and home plans together this week for us. Prayers for Greg! Hubby came home today not feeling too well.

Sorry about your hubby! I hope he is better soon. I only had c v once. In Jan of 2021. It was like a sinus infection to me. I got it right after a visit from my youngest who had just had one of those sticks or pokes. Her father and I never took any of them. He wasn't at home the day she visited. He didn't get it. I pray you guys stay well and cool. This summer has been brutal. Love from SW Tenn.

I’ve been praying that we will have mild summer since our AC broke early Spring. And, I’m too broke to fix it😅. We do have portable AC though, but it can only do so much. Beryl knocked down my Moringa, I cut it and now it’s 3 feet tall.

Good Afternoon! I've been growing Roma ll green beans . Found them on MI gardener website. There is a 40% off sale going on thru September. We like the Italian green beans. They do way better than the bl have been for us. Have you grown cumin herb before? I'm giving it a try! Have a great evening 🌻🌻

My summer too hot and dry. Peppers horrible, big tomatoes horrible, watermelon vines dying off before the melons are ready. Sweet potato vines don’t seem to be growing much at all. I’ve yanked it all down. Maybe get the beds ready for broccoli/collards kale. Sun scald and an invasion of pest just did me in this year. I do have some long paprika peppers dried and roasted chili’s

Hi Jill. It has been a while since you posted. Sorry to hear you and Greg have been ill. My daughter has had that stuff twice this year. Your peppers look so big and green, Most of my garden has burned up or been eaten up with grasshoppers. The only things still living are growing in shade.

I hope that all of this talk about "contamination" and "recalls" would motivate people to "grow their own" or form a "co-op" where one grows one type of spice, someone else grows another, etc., so that we have local "pure" food sources. Yes, I know there are problems with that - also some environments are not capable of growing "everything" we need, but we need to start somewhere. I also feel that a lot of these "contamination" stories are used to cover up "shortages".

I'm thinking we are getting bad seeds. None of my BL have grown in years. I got bad watermelon seeds. Grew 3 20+ pound watermelon's and you could tell they were cross pollinated, and tasted terrible. Not crossed here, where ever they were grown.

What's the difference between freeze drying and using the dehydrator? Do you find one is better than the other?
@ntxg
@ntxg Ай бұрын
Freeze drying maintains 99% of the nutritional value in the taste. Dehydrating maintains about 80% but girl it works for me too. I do both.
