That is not the venomous Philippine cobra but a harmless common rat snake. Both are endemic and are protected species as they play a role in our ecosystem. They reduce rodents and other pests that ravage the coconuts and grain fields. Good that you set it free. Just wear rubber boots when clearing outdoors and be mindful of your surroundings. Btw, what a beautiful spot for your dream hut.

There are some real boulders in the ground! Washing the rice is my job here in our Japanese household. Come to think of it, so is taking out the trash, vacuuming the house, hanging up the laundry to dry, and washing the dishes. My wife Emika tells me that all Japanese men do those things, so I should too. I think she's "pulling my leg!" She does cook very well, I have to admit. A snake! Add it to the cooking pot! Its just a common wolf snake.,it is mildly venomous but not deadly,.Most bites result in swelling and pain and do not result in serious harm.,what you need to worry about are philippine cobra's and king cobra's..
