Memory revived of my days in my home town Trissur and temples and elephants. Normally Trichurians are elephant craze people and more elephants you can see in Trichur district including Guruvayoor. In my house also every year there use to be Para Offering like Muppara. While my mom was alive she use to arrange the Parayeduppu of Paramekkavu Bhagavathi temple Trichur. Thank you for sharing the experience and my memory revived.❤😊🎉

I have seen many videos in Kerala treating the elephants really well. The houses are very clean, btw I'd like know the meaning of measuring the rice in the vessel. Really enjoyed this video, if you have more parts of this please post them too.

It's called ' Nellu Para ' or we call it generally ' para niraykkal '. If you notice, initially, she pours the Nellu or Paddy thrice into the Vessel ( name of vessel is called Para ). After that, using that Cone shaped utensil ( we call it muram ) carrying paddy is filled into the Vessel. It must overflow and must fall down into the Banana leaf. That's the ritual. Edit : after filling the person will handover to us a few Nellu/paddy from the filled Vessel. We can store it in kitchen or in pooja space or in purse or so, till next year. Some people keep it for years. In temples, we fill the vessel with turmeric, black sesame seeds etc. Each of them represents different things. Like people fill it for Job Requirements, Marriage blocks, Prosperity etc... Here, the Elephant carried the Deity ( representation form of real idol installed in the temple ), it's believed that, God/Goddess walks out to meet devotees during the festive season. So, filling the vessel infront of Deity means, prosperity, food fortune etc.. The arrangements for that, as shown in video is also followed as a part of custom and tradition. Hope that helped.

This is a just a tradition of offering paddy (rice) to god who is visiting us on elephant for health and prosperity.
