Its simple I think. He inspired the other members of Evans Blue to play a certain way that they just dont now. His "vibe" drove the music. The more I listen to the old EB albums, the more I realize they died when he left. They were great together, but you can see now where the real once in a lifetime talent is.

to go from what Parker said "Kevin Matisyn was [voted] out of the band because of HIS discontent for everyone else in the band" and from Kevin's blog at the time. "what good is it to be in a band that makes you miserable?" I'm guessing he wasn't happy with the rest of E|B so he moved on with their blessings.
