The Chute Release can be set to open the parachute closer to the ground, which will cause the rocket to land nearer to the launch area. This can save numerous steps and potentially prevent the loss of a rocket.

I have been using them for several years now and they are great and work without any issues. I just dread getting one caught in the top of a 50 ft tree or draped over a power-line.

Thank you for the demonstration. I have been considering getting one of those. Might try one out.

It’s a hell of a piece of equipment. Mine has survived 3 catos, a ballistic return and a shredded chute and it’s still trucking.

Definitely a great product. Allows you to fly your simple, motor eject rockets higher, on bigger motors with less chance of it drifting away on the chute. I will probably buy a second one. It would be nice if Jolly Logic could incorporate the function of the Altimeter 2 or 3 into it as well. You could control your chute and get flight data form one device.

This a very nice addition....but i would think the pressures from the ejection charge would somehow mess with the altimeter pressure sensor...great video...👍

This is really cool! Does it have to be used in a dual deployment configuration? I would imagine it would be a massive amount of stress on the rocket if it were to suddenly deploy at 400 feet, no?
@TheRocketeer
@TheRocketeer Жыл бұрын
That is a good question and I am glad you brought it up. The chute release is generally used with motor deployment so dual deployment is not necessary. At apogee the bundled chute acts as sort of a drogue and swings around a bit slowing the rocket descent. When the parachute is released it takes a bit to unfold from the rolled up form and unfurl therefore softening the opening. I don't think using this setup would work well for a heavy fiberglass rocket but it works great for up to a 4" craft paper rocket.

@@TheRocketeer Awesome to hear. I was a little bit worried about the stress it may place on the rocket at deployment, but it makes sense for the parachute itself to act as a drogue before it actually unravels. Are there any specific packing methods you'd recommend for something like this?
@WalkerSmallEnginePerformance
@WalkerSmallEnginePerformance Жыл бұрын
@@Aether-Entropy Yeah, depending on the rocket, it's not coming down much faster than most dual deploy stuff would be on a drogue.

@@Aether-Entropy I am going to follow up with a how to on parachute packing because several have asked for it. I would not say anything special is required.

I have one of these but affraid to use it after my j270 motor ejected 8 seconds early, destroying my shockcord and chute haha. If i would have used the JLCR, i would have lost it on my first try and would be out 140$ haha

Hello. Whats the orange and black ‘98’ rocket behind you?
@TheRocketeer

It is a Composite Warehouse Formula 98. The orange is the color of the fiberglass! The F98 is still available at Madcow. www.madcowrocketry.com/4-fiberglass-formula-98/ It could become available through Wildman in the future. wildmanrocketry.com/
