I've tried this a number of times now and the knots just don't want to spiral the way you're showing. In an inch and a half of sinnet I can get maybe 1 quarter of a turn on the spiral but even just a gentle twist brings it back to being just an oblong profile sinnet.

Oh and did you boil that red cord? Is that why the guts are pink?
