There’d be no reason to, Swiss Guard is plenty and has a longer historical tie to the Papacy. The Noble and Palatine guards, not to mention the Papal Zouaves, were created during the short duration of the Papal States until Italian Reunification. They were created to fight against the unifiers.

@@enrica2129yea and it’s still made up purely of Swiss Catholic men, which, in my opinion should have it’s ranks open up to Catholic men of all nations, especially since the religiosity and fervor for said religion is dying out in europe while it’s still very alive in most Latin American countries like Mexico, Peru, Brazil

That’s for show. They are highly trained with automatic weapons etc. but for the public you see this. Mess with one and find out. B they are tough. A few documentaries on the subject are fascinating. They saved the pope once from a horde of invaders and many died fighting them off. They take this oath to this day and are probably the most expensive mercenary contract for half a millennia

The Pontifical Swiss Guard is responsible for protecting the Pope and the Apostolic Palace within the territory of the Vatican City State; they do not engage in offensive actions.
