i love how there does not appear to be any functional difference between being “blessed” by a god and being “deceived” by a god. it just appears to be a question of whether the syndicate approves or not.

Yep I also sometimes found interrogating NPCs frustrating since they just never crack. No matter the evidence you bring them, they always have an explanation, or an excuse, or at most they just refuse to comment. No "yes I admit it!" Ace Attorney breakdowns here. On the flip side this means the game gets to keep you in the theory-crafting stage for much longer as nothing is ever hard confirmed by people just admitting stuff. Since coming up with a million theories then building, combining and eliminating them tends to be my favourite part of mysteries like these I ended up loving this game a whole lot.

if you’re worried about missing anything in questioning, personally i’d just go through them quickly and not bother reading them out loud unless they have substance. you can always read from the log if they do after all. but skipping ones that you think the suspect will have nothing to say about will probably not be much of a problem either

i can see how some people would find it frustrating but suspects not really budging on their stories during initial questioning never bothered me much as i assumed stuff like that would happen in the climax of the game at trial. that’s how it tends to work in your aces attorney and dangans ronpa, after all.

The difference being that since this whole game is a single investigation, you spend an entire game without ever seeing a witness or culprit break. All those other games have you putting up with unbudging NPCs for not nearly as long. As for the final trial... The game really doesn't ever tell you what to expect from it, and entering it at all is a point of no return (except for loading a save of course) so it's not like players have any idea what will or will not happen during the trial, including whether the NPCs will even be present in the first place.
