For Thanksgiving my family and I drove down to Chico, and with the help of several of our friends, we fed all of the fire evacuees warm Thanksgiving meals. We ended up feeding almost 3,000 people. Seeing the aftermath of so much devastation was so crazy I can’t even imagine what these people went through right in front of them. Stay strong Paradise.

I'm from Paradise. My wife and I have lived there for more than 35 years. On Nov 8th about 8:00 am I stepped out back, coffee in hand. I smelled smoke but that's not uncommon, there's lots of wood stoves around here. The wind was howling, I was sure a tree branch would fall on a line somewhere and we'd lose power. That often happens here with windstorms and all these Ponderosa pine. I noticed an odd reddish-brown color in the sky to the east. The color was almost identical to the color of the soil here, so my first thought was it's a dust storm. Then the phone rang, our son saying there's a fire on Pence road, it looks bad. Immediately I knew what that color in the sky was was, it's smoke! My wife and I started grabbing photos and important papers, but within 10 minutes the house was being pelted by burning embers. We grabbed our dog and jumped in the car, but as we turned the corner I could see flames 2 blocks away. This fire was already in town and it had strong winds on it! We were 3 blocks from the home when we spotted a woman on the side of the road. The smoke was so thick I almost didn't see her. She was terrified and quickly hopped into the back seat. We turned the next corner and joined the line of traffic moving way too slow. In my mirror I saw nothing but flames. As we sat there the fire quickly overtook us on both sides, burning homes, churches, businesses. That's the way it went, for the next hour, driving at 5 mph down Elliott to Skyway and out of town with everything around us on fire.

Fire is weird. There is no rhyme or reason to it, as you drive through the devastation, there’s one home burned to the ground and one home standing. Or one home standing and across the street the homes are all gone but trees still standing. You have to see it to believe it. But as you drive into my home town of Magalia Ca, all the trees are burned and gone, it’s bare, burned, and neighborhoods are burned to the ground, then you have a few business that are standing and everything around them including other businesses are gone, burned to the ground.

Here is a comment on the recent government report on the effects of climate change: "This season’s Camp Fire in California has caused unimaginable destruction and has inspired numerous discussions about the impact of climate change on wildfires-and for good reason. In the Western states and Alaska, large forest fires have indeed increased over the past few decades. They’re burning millions of acres more land now than they did in the 1980s. It’s often difficult to parse out the effects of climate versus the effects of human land use and management on wildfires, but scientists generally agree that hotter and drier conditions are part of the cause." Living 15 minutes away by Lime Saddle Marina, so Paradise was the place to shop and say hi to local people. Now today and since the day the fire started sharing the pain of loss and destruction myself along with most of my friends. New young families losing their first homes and elderlies I may not ever see again, we would talk and joke in Safeway. Every store was run with friendliness and concern if one needed something. Nothing was better than to sit outside underneath the trees and hear the geese flying over, and hearing neighbors laughing. The memories are fond and shaded with grief. The communities in the mountains are shattered and yet the people are strong and will continue on.

I was personally affected by this fire. The camp fire was a direct energy weapons attack, most likely to be from an Athena DEW. Forest fires don't travel at 327mph which is how fast CAL fire says the camp fire spread, almost 500 fps. This & the wine country fires are uninvestigated crimes & the removal of the burned out destruction was covering up that crime. Investigation into who is involved needs to be taken seriously.
@babybrat29585 жыл бұрын
@Will the Black Friday Bushfires 1939 incinerated 5,000,000 acres in two days. By spreading that is meant in all directions and not just forward. @작세사 Morality is the defining trait which makes the difference between man and beasts. A person who does not believe in The one true God and accountability to Him has no morality and so believes what ever he wants and so does what ever he wants, in fact such a person is more evil than they know.

@@babybrat2958 I've seen with my own eyes and extensive video that I took not just in California but where I first saw this up in Canada. Same damn thing and yes cars/trucks where melted down completely along with all of its steel and aluminum parts. That is EXTREME high heat 1,500 to 2,000 degree plus wood only burns MAX at 1200. steel takes 2500! Whether steel or aluminum extreme high heat is required and wood does not do the trick. As an experiment I took an old aluminum tire rim put it in the middle placed charcoal along with all kinds of wood. Friends came over that evening had a great time the next morning the tire rim was black as could be but it never did melt...not even a little.

Really? Look at he California high speed rail website, it describes where construction of the line has already begun. Find those areas that construction has already begun in the Hwy 99 corridor on google maps satellite view. How much of the rail line in the 99 corridor cuts through farm land? You think they lit the fields on fire? There is no proposed route for the high speed rail north of Sacramento. There’s a map depicting a general corridor but it follows Interstate 5. Paradise is not on Interstate 5. Either post the link to the proposed route for the Northern California section of the HSR or stop being a liar.

Elizabeth M , so if they prove that in a court they will be charged with gross negligence , and I'm sure be shut down and sued , possible prison time for the people who are in charge of that job. It's really sad and terrible knowing it might have been avoided , I remember when I was young I lived on Long Island NY for a while and the entire East end , the pine Barron's went up and tens of thousands of acres burnt down as well as hundreds of houses , that was pretty intense , but nothing in comparison to this.
@elizabethm70906 жыл бұрын
@@stephlyons9253 Yes, just Google PG&E. It's still under "investigation". But a woman who lived there said they came to her home a day or so before the fire. She had been told that one of the lines on her property was arcing or sparking on trees. I don't think it was fixed obviously before it started the fire. To add to this, Jerry Brown the idiot Governor, Vetoed a Bill to clear lots of brush up in the forests. It is a combination of factors, but poor forest management is also a big part of it. I live here and just stood at the drug store a few months back as a fire raged over the hills where I live. It's a tinderbox here. I feel bad for the victims also. They had "narrowed the roads" ahead of time to cut back on traffic? Some looney liberal policy they are doing here. The people also did not have as much warning as needed and bad evacuation plans. There are many things that went wrong here. It's really sad.
@stephlyons92536 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth M I can't begin to imagine , my mother used to work for the Department of Environmental Conservation , helping save the little bit of land that's left in NYC and Long Island , she was a certified fire fighter , they would do controlled fires , pine Barron's naturally set them selves on fire in order to open the pine cones to plant new seeds and clean up the old , dead trees so Forrest are a tinder box just waiting for a moment to do what they do , so dry weather , dead trees and pine needles are crazy dry and perfect kindling for fires so once that fire started it's basically inpossible to control , high winds and dry weather are a recipe for disaster. I hope it can be avoided in the future. It's really sad how someone's entire life can be taken from you in the blink of an eye. I'm glad you are safe and I hope any family or friends are equally safe.

@@stephlyons9253 They used to do controlled burns here and they stopped it. You can sit back and list all of the things that contributed to this. It is a disaster of epic proportions which I feel will be repeated sadly unless people even take it upon themselves to try and clear dry brush etc.
