People on the island feed the cats every day.
The island has a small population and poor industry.

Just to clear things up, the cats with short tails have not had their tails cut short. There is a breed with a short stubby tail called the Japanese Bobtail. Secondly, I do have to admit that picking up by their neck is quite excessive despite their extra skin around their neck("scruff"). However, he is trying to let those who have not had a chance to eat, eat. Also, some of the cats are jumping towards/onto him. To those that are angry with him moving them out of the way forcefully, if he didn't do that, then there's a higher chance of him stepping on their tails/paws which would most likely be very painful. Lastly, there's a higher cat population cause there's no vet to neuter/spay them. This island is pretty remote and the inhabitants there are elderly, so I doubt they can afford to feed/look after every single cat. A little bit here and there from passerbys would be fine; plus, cats look well fed. In my opinion, the cats that are meowing very loudly have learned that the louder you meow, the more food you get. Everything I've typed is just my opinion.

Those aren't strong kicks, neither she is throwing they because she don't care. Cats will steal the meal from the weaker and smaller ones, she has to make sure that at least she tried to feed them equally, and is better to use your feet to make them get out of the way, because if not, she will step on their paws or tails. Maybe with more people doing the job, it won't be necessary be so rude with the cats. Keep in mind the majority of people that could help this cats, wouldn't blink an eyelash to help if they start to starving
