It really depends on how long the citizens in each country are willing to bury their heads in the sand and ignore the truth. There is a tipping point. The question is when, and the unfortunate reality that the longer it takes the more it will cost, not in money but freedom. The very rich and in control rely on the narratives that divide and cause strife between everyone beneath them economically. Simply put, those in power want people to fight. As long as we have conflict with each other, it allows them to get away with the agenda that has been pushed for ages. They distract us from their controlled expansion with inflated disputes amongst ourselves.

Constructive criticism: Why not pick a single currency and stick with it? Saying that there was £10M of investments and $7.5M offshore sounds like far more was offshore than actually was. Especially in a follow on sentence. Sure it might be accurate, but at the same time it's misleading to the average viewer. If accidental it shows a lack of thought. If deliberate it demonstrates bias and spin that the Corporation pretends not to have.

@CarFreeSegnitz7 жыл бұрын
Space Monkey "Nothing is illegal..." then the rules suck. It may be legal but it is morally bankrupt. Citizens are asked to contribute to the smooth running of their nation. The vast majority do so even if they complain a bit in the process. In exchange government provides roads, military, legal system, schooling, healthcare, social security. The wealthy benefit from those same institutions for their businesses to run smoothly. The difference is when the bill comes, when the wealthy are asked to pay their taxes many have chosen to skip out. They'll justify their action with "they got enough already" or "I don't get enough value for my taxes". But they're wrong. Firstly deficit spending clearly shows the government has not collected enough taxes. Secondly the wealthiest have patently received the greatest benefit from the smooth operation of the nation. By skipping out on their taxes the wealthiest are sticking everyone else with the bill and future generations via deficit spending.

the wealthy do the same in the United States. I remember hearing decades ago about PGA professional golfers geting special coupon/reimbursements for jet fuel for their private jets (I guarantee not all of those trips were work related). Also Private Country Club memberships used to be a tax write off in a lot of cases (not sure if that is still the case). Another scam in certain areas, is when you purchase a mansion on a large estate, if you have a couple pets that can be classified as 'farm animals' or a bee hive, then they declare their property is for agriculature purposes (or they lease out small plots for people to grown garden vegetables for personal use)..by doing this they pay $500 property tax, instead of the tens of thousands of property tax they should be paying given the space/value of the property. it's a complete scam. Property taxes are used for roads/bridges, police/fire, schools/teachers/admistration and a lot of other services/instracture. The wealthy can afford the best tax lawyers to look for any and every tax loophole possible..

To put this into perspective, less than 2% of the assets of the Duchy of Lancaster consist of tax haven investments and the Duchy of Lancaster is a fraction of the Queen's total holdings. The queen is not legally obligated to pay any taxes at all but she volunteers to pay taxes on all her income anyways and that tax far exceeds by more than 50 fold any tax that might have been avoided. This would be like you owing no tax because you only earn 170 pounds a week but you volunteer to pay 33.35 pounds a week in taxes and suddenly the tabloids complain because they think you should have volunteered to pay another 65 pence in tax you don't owe. They are attempting to make something out of nothing.

The tax rate in the UK is at 19% which is ridiculously high. Business men/women all over the world choose to set up business in the U.K. which means through investment a lot of money comes into the U.K tax system. However there still remains problems in the health sector, housing, education and low employment. With such a high tax rate and a reputation as one of the worlds leading business nation, one wonders why these problems persist? and why the tax rate is ridiculously high? The BBC and panorama should also investigate where all this tax money is going because its clear as day that not all tax money collected goes into public welfare. The Duchy of Lancaster belongs to the crown. Not the queen personally. So any investments or offshore money deals they make are nothing to do with the queen, therefore she is not to blame. In regards to Lord Ashcroft, he technically hasn't done anything illegal or immoral. If indeed so much tax money is not going into public welfare, one also wonders what we are funding? Weapons manufacturing? Or pointless wars abroad perhaps? I don't know. In Lord Ashcroft's case, he is lucky to be in a position to decide not to contribute to such a ridiculous amount of money collecting. The middle and working classes in the UK should question the actions of the tax collecter and law makers instead of chasing the rich around with accusations, forcing them to hide in toilets. This news report seems one sided and ignorent. The bbc should really think how this report damages their reputation but, they've never really cared about that have they.
