​​​@@Xotchkass i guess but it's about player's agency and ability to influence events using combination of skills, wealth etc. One of my characters got the incapable event with 20/80 odds, but he was on track to become the best member of the dynasty so far and naturally I was pissed and used devmode to remove the trait. You can take it, for sure, but more often than not you're not playing for the sake of the storyline (iromanning it and rolling with the punches) but because you want to accomplish something, and having that something ripped away/delayed because of rng is frustrating

You should totally try the skirmish tactic. Its where you stack all the fatal casualties resistance modifiers combined with the underrated screen stat. You can wear an army of 10000 down with only an army of 1000 by repeatedly attacking them over and over again while they starve trying to chew through your ridiculously high fort level baronies. You can even get the fatal casualties modifiers so high that you gain troops instead of losing them in battle. Atleast in the past. Please try it!!!❤

I once spent an entire game 867-1280 as kingdom of baghdad just marrying family members and scheming my dynasty onto thrones in all the continents, granting independence to conquered lands of my culture. Then watched as the AI just deleted my entire legacy in less than 100 years, my family reduced to holding just 1 duchy in Italy and 2 counts around Ethiopia.

Another good spot for a strategy similar to this is Ireland. Pick up wetlanders and wetland farms gain a similar bonus to forestries with forest folk/wardens. Plus Ireland is a nice easy kingdom to maintain. Edit: You can bypass the county capital restriction on the windmills and related buildings by moving the county capital and building the building up to level 2. For whatever reason PDX decided the restriction only applies to level 1s.

I've done a similar thing in Finland, starting in Käkisalmi. That county is an Ukonusko holy site and a duchy capital with all of its baronies on the coast. Even though there's just 3 baronies, you can still get stupid development on it. You can also hybridize with the Prussian culture to get both Forest Wardens and Sacred Groves, and if you do that by conquering Chelmno, that'll be another Ukonusko holy site for you to reform the religion. You can almost reach feudalism in one lifetime with that.

About the popup-bug you mentioned: In addition your character may not recieve certain traits from pilgrimage, hunts or from other activities (I had a blank notification my character got the wise man trait, but never shoved up in the trait-list). I had a solution with reinstall the game to secondary harddrive. Maybe work with simple reinstall too. Prepare to secure your save files, I didn't lost them, but could happen.

I came to a similar strat as you, free temples is OP, and was pointed to youre video when i talked about it on reddit. Though my strat, other than picking aniconism, was different and imho stronger. You havn't noticed the possible effects of "fervent temple builders" which can potentially give a -60% reduction on temple upgrade and build time costs with the right leader, i personally used this and had other terrain cultural picks for hills. Besides that i also want to point to the "religious patronage" cultural pick, as it gives a somewhat rediculous amount of renown for temple upgrades. My culture picks were: - Amharic highlanders- Hill dwellers- highland warriors- Fervent temple builders- Philosopher culture and was going to add religious patronage Religious tenets were - Aniconism- megalithic constructions- Alexandrian Catehecism The combo amharic highlanders, hill dwellers and megalithic constructions and highland warriors is very powerfull aswell, among other boni this will give a +40% increase to levy's that can be added to with each hillfarm level adding 1%, so by midgame its not too hard to get a +60 to +80% levy bonus in youre province. which is rather stronk if youre going to build up those temples so easily to high levels. The combo also gave me -20% build time and cost reduction in hills which is good if you have a hills only county with 6 barony's like Damot in Ethiopia.And besides that some income boni, some development boni, a fair amount of hill terrain fighting boni etc. I got this combo by starting as a custom designed Pictish ruler with coptic faith in Damot, to fuse with ethopian culture. My monarchs all get to specialise in learning, as my culture picks are quite good for all this, alexandrian catehism and philosopher culture each gives a +20% learning boost so you can get trough this tree real quick so by age 60 youre monarch can focus on another tree and still live 2 decades trough the health boni, it gives temple reduction costs with scholar and theologian, and culture facination speed boni above the learning provided. Really, REALLy don't underestimate the "religious patronage" culture pick though. with 6 temples having each build up 5 buildings to level 6 by midgame this give a total of +14000 renown which is good enough to get 7.5 dynasty picks trough this alone, but it could be utterly cheesed by taking provinces spamming temples and buildings in them at 0 cost and 0 build time to just give them away afterwards, i guess this could be used to just unlock pretty much ALL dynasty picks by midgame.

Question: what is the best way to exploit the "Recognition of Talent" cultural option? It seems like the "Kidnap" trait in schemer should make it ripe for abuse when building wide: take a dutchy (or preferably several counties in a dutchy individually in quick succession), recruit anyone with an excellent ability you can use on your council from your prison (through kidnapping or victories) to your court, and you now have a strong hook on them and a council position for them so you know they will have the gold to pay you every 5 years as part of the strong hook combined with the "Golden Obligations" perk. As you grow into a kingdom and your kids become your council members, give your kids dutchies and other "recruits" with high stats and good traits (like honest, loyal, etc...) counties under them. Those you "recognized" get an improved station, your kids get better council members to run their dutchies, and you get ALL THE GOLD! If anyone on KZbin can optimize this strat, it's you...

It's fun to play through the horrible. I married my heir off to an Empress to unite our empires. They produced one child and then he got lover's pox and was kicked out of the marital bedroom. Then that one kid is assassinated at the tender age of 3. I thought maybe I could force a divorce, re-marry her, and try again. She's 44 and nothing but I'm crossing my fingers. And then it happens: she's assassinated too. It sucked but I learned a lot. The good thing about CK3 is it is rarely truly over.

Did you know that you can construct buildings in literally no time at all and don't have to wait in game years for it to complete? Pause the game, then construct the building you want, then cancel it, then construct it, then cancel it, all while keeping the game paused. And so on and so forth. Do that a bunch of times and then unpause after the last construct and watch as the time taken to complete the building ticks down by years right in front of your eyes. You can now build anything in basically no time at all.

You can also stack the "forest folk" traditional which is a slightly nerfed version of the "forest wardens" by hybridising with a culture that has it. Unfortunately you can't reform a culture to have both since having one lock you out of the other

you can actually have more buildings now as long as you have the civics researched. its hard to say they nerfed anything but domain limit when you can have 6 buildings per castle without mods.

I'm new to ck3 and your videos have helped a lot, I'm currently on my best playthough and got the kingdom of Alba however I really need help on who to distribute land to, to try and keep the kingdom of alba together when i die as the queen ( took 3 heirs) and not fight off family I was giving the domains away like nothing so it got my limit down but vassels who have duchies want the counties in there duchy and I need help to maximise gold, if you can help great

A way to balance building cost reduction could be to correlate it with increased destruction chance through events. Earthquakes, blazes, floodings, storms, sieges and battles...

It would be nice to have a more dynamic system for buildings. Control is a feature that sort of represents the rebuilding of a province after a siege but it would also be nice to have a chance of destroying/downgrading buildings when's sieged. Take for example Constantinople that never recovered it's full glory after the 4th crusade. In the game, a siege of Constantinople does nothing other than reduces control of course
