Should I make a Brittanic empire with Brittany, or should I switch crowns? I'm leaning towards keeping with Brittany and just making as much territory I can de jure to that title. I started out as Brittany, conquered most of Ireland (save one county that another kingdom has, due to them winning a war before I could fight for it), and I conquered most of England to the point I can usurp the crown. I'm probably going to hold off on that, but right now I need some advice. Should I focus on building up and set things up for when I get arched saddles in 20 years? I am anglo-breton with access to huscarls, but heavy cav literally hit different. Should I step away from skirmishers and archery for the heavier hitters? That is my main question, any other points you are willing to offer are icing on the cake. I watch your vids and made sure to take over the Duchy of Hwicc as early as possible, because it has the Forest of Dean Mining Settlement.

well, if you're norse asatru and capture a king who is your rival you get an event to execute them on the battlefield. the quote is something like "this war is over, but only for you." i think thats slightly more chad.

This was even easier in CK2 because the war was never forced to end you could just keep going. So I would completely 100% siege entire empires late game then ransom everyone back and peace out

Every time I played CK3, when I had a big amount of land and wasn't in primogeniture, my heirs will split it away anyway, I don't know what you're talking about ^^'

@@Bloodlyshiva I'd certainly disagree with OP's claim to "never start in 1066". It highly depends on what nation you play and what you want to achieve. He does have a point if you are going to play an underdog nation or trying to champion a minority faith. The gap in development, technology and strength between different nations is much higher in 1066 than it is in 867. In 867, even the most advanced nations have just barely entered the early middle ages with few technologies unlocked, so if you are playing an underdeveloped tribal, you have a much easier time catching up starting in 867 than in 1066, when some nations start ready to transition into the high medieval era while others are still stuck in tribal. Also Catholicism and the big Islamic faiths are much more dominant in 1066 than in 867, so you'll have a particularly hard time trying to play as a Jewish or pagan ruler with powerful Islamic or Christian neighbours. If you play as a highly developed European Catholic nation or middle east Islamic nation, you won't see much of a difference in difficulty, but getting a foothold playing as an underdog is certainly more difficult in 1066. That said, building huge empires and steamrolling everybody with ease does get old at some point and the games in which you struggle for survival tend to be the most fun and rewarding, so why not start in 1066 as the last Swedish Asatru duke and try to dismantle the papacy? ;-)

Sometimes, I forget how hard CK is since I always play so safe early and grow rapidly mid game, I always end up OP later. Ive been making mistakes recdntly like misjudging battles and nearly losing wars but keep getting saved by MAA. Thats why I love this series, it keeps teaching me new stuff.

With how strong they've made men at arms, I would like for their to be some way to boost the power for levies. Maybe a culture or religious option to boost the attack, make the peasant wave possible, or tie it to the average development of your holdings. Richer peasants equals better gear than a rusty pitchfork.

2:38 I don't think the AI knew how to do that. I think they just split up to avoid attrition as usual, but that required splitting into enough different armies that, to remain close to the besieging army, they would end up filling every holding bordering it.

"im shocked the computer knows how to do that" so i see this happen a lot in crusades, the AI will want to be a mega death stack but they will only keep enough troops on and around a siege so that there is enough supply for all the armies i.e. a 50k stack of men will split down enough so that the supply of that region can support the army. I actually believe this is where Crusades have issues because then the AI is torn between Siege and Battle allowing for the opposition to stack wipe and win the Crusade. They are also torn because they know the supply limit isnt enough for the full stack of Crusading Troops and so they don't want to go onto that tile. Now saying this, I could be totally wrong however this is just from observation of my games

Pro Tip: surviving as Gideon start, best thing to do is become a vassal to a lord with good term (relig freedom) and you can help the liege expand whilst you remain the strongest top level vassal. This works in general but especially useful for religion groups with very few counties. Bottom text.

This video is why I think every player should experience "playing Tall" at least once. I know its not as optimal in the recent updates, but it forces you to learn how to optimize and upgrade buildings and teaches you the value in doing so.

Challenge- Have the best Empire; highest development, most troops, most religious sites, best royal court, et cetera. Stipulations: 1) Start with one unpretentious barony. 2) No more than one barony per county. 3) All baronies must be in multi-barony counties. 4) No barony (in different counties) may be geographically adjacent. I think you can do it.

I wish I would have saved a game file for you. I was playing as the Byzantine emperor in the early start and had 5 wars going on for my title. You wipe one army but you couldn't chase people down without another faction raising their war score. It took me 40 years to have peace.

Lol I did something similar with my Kingdom Of Uzushiogakure (Island of Visby) playthrough. Had max defender advantage with Marches and Ringmur and horsemen. Every Norse raid and war was labeled as a slaughter to the Norse

Here’s a challenge for ya, do a random leader, and you have to only use the culture you spawn with and the religion. If it’s tribal or clan you have to stay that way. Difficulty will vary, you can start with world dom, then go to surviving as your empire then as a Dutchy then barony and then finally just a one county. Would love to see something like this

When you distribute big land acquisitions like this, what is your process? In the past I've mostly given away every county and then made one of the counts the duke over everyone else. I'd love to hear what you think is the most advantageous or satisfying maybe for preventing border-gore.

If you're a king or higher you can give away whole duchies, and kingdoms if an emperor, though that may create a ridiculously powerful vassal, so be careful when giving away kingdoms. When you give them away, you select all counties below the duchy as well as the duchy title itself. I like to land family, so I look for a dynasty member that's not in line for a title already or disinherit someone who is. To me, the benefit of landing dynasty members is being able to use 'denounce' later in the game when your empire is large and vassal management is a real challenge. People say that disinheriting is a waste of renown, but it's a currency like any other, I use it regularly and still fill out whole trees by the end of the game. Look for dynasty members that are content (and zealous if giving away land of a different religion). Avoid ambitious and antagonistic vassals wherever possible.
